I think she brained him with it. I’m surprised the fruitcake was damaged at all…..must only be a few years old…..

I guess the pillow upside the head earlier in the week didn’t make the impression on Arlo Janis had intended.ow.C.

Check out the Detroit Free Press site. There’s an article about a 134 year old fruit cake.

Notice also the fruitcake is essentially undamaged. Wonder how Arlo’s face is doing.

My better half and I both LOVE fruitcake. When I meet someone who is down on it, I always inquire what it is about it that they don’t like. (Usually they’ve had a bad one baked by someone who really shouldn’t have…) If I ever get across the pond, I will look for some of that delicious fruitcake richardelguru describes!

Nothing to do with the strip, just love “Clotty’s” Bored of the Rings avatar – an obscure blast from the past.

Is it just me, or has the strip had very vague references this last week? I simply am not understanding it!

The scientists who tried to create Cold Fusion got it wrong. They only need to stack up enough Fruitcake to reach critical mass.

Janis seems indifferent to the fact that her son and his family are totally MIA this holiday season. weird character development for the uber mom Janis.

For some very good, but definitely not inexpensive, fruitcakes, try mail ordering from the Collins Street Bakery in Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas.

I’m still upset because a few Christmases ago, the bomb squad blew a “suspicious package” at LAX all to blazes. I’ll bet they are still scraping fruitcake off the walls. waaah!

I love fruit cake. Those who don’t like them probably have never had a good one. When I order mine from the Swiss Colony I also order small loaves to give to guests who have said they didn’t like fruit cake before but are now clammering to eat mine.

As Founder and President of the Fruitcake Anti-Defamation League of America* (not to be confused with any other organization of the same name), I commend all the commenters who have stood up and defended Fruitcake, Food for the Gods. (*Annual membership fee $50. I might even print up a membership card if you ask.)

Secret of a good fruitcake (IMO) is this—the more candied fruit the better. The cake dough is just intended to hold the fruit together. If it is still a bit dry for your taste, add a sauce on top of it. Growing up, lemon sauce was as much a Christmas tradition for us as the fruitcake itself.
