Hmmm…Oldtimers or just kidding. Sometimes with us old folks it’s hard to tell. Should be an interesting character.

Aww…Life’s become so bad for him that he’s immersed himself in a fantasy world? Whatever the reason, he’s affected Linda. That’s good. She needs to care for someone who’s worse off than herself.

Linda is sweating this out a bit. Who is Trudy? What does he mean by cake? He is a nice looking old dog, but what’s his story? I expect we will find out. Maybe Linda’s new friend and helper.

Aaron has a way of making you care about his characters, no matter what their circumstances. We already feel for Mr.Hopper.

Gentlemen such as our new character, should be encouraged, not hasseled . Working in a hospital I found that if you questioned them gently you could learn a lot about their like and a lot about your own life. It could be a temporary confusion, well maybe not in his case, and when they come around, they remember and hold it against you and probably all the other nurses too. It is not a job. It is a pleasure to help. AN has a caring soul.Blessed Be

Mr. Hopper’s case is mild and it’s been six years since the End. Imagine how people’s minds were affected at the very start. We saw the chaos on the surface streets just before the bombs went off. The survivors’ sanity must have been stretched to breaking in the first year or so, with many snapping. I wonder how many are institutionalized and whether the functionally sane are the majority.

Yup. It looks like a guy who can’t accept the reality of the new life he’s experiencing, and had retreated into denial and a fantasy world where for twenty years he’s patronized someplace that serves cake and has a server named Trudy whom he thinks loves him. But, also, like Linda, he’s seen as harmless and is permitted to wander the streets of Endtown.#Something of a gross oversimplification, made by me, a layman non-expert—-but, what the hell. Speculation is fun—-there’s been some talk lately about whether or not it’s irritating to the creator, but, hey, I enjoy doing it—-but I enjoy having my speculations blown out of the water by the next strip even more.

Maybe, just maybe, Hopper is just acting, to “mess with the new girl’s head”. I might gain a little insight if Hopper asked her if she wanted a Walnetto, as Henry Gibson’s “dirty old man” character from “Laugh In” television show asked Ruth Buzzi’s “hairnet lady”. Seriously, I do people whose world’s have been shattered, and some make do as well as they can. I would remind and plead with everyone, to vote early and often. Today is the last day of the month and year, and Endtown 2.0, 1.0, and Doc Rat over at topwebcomics so let us end the year on a high note. Thanks to Level_Head and SurfStuff55 for posting the voting links.

Doc Rat is near publication time, so Happy New Year Jenner, soon TSOJ and everyone else. Jenner gets New Year’s first because he is in Japan. I hope everyone in our Endtown family has a wondrously happy, healthy and prosperous 2013, especially Aaron Neathery who brought us all together.

Be safe tonight especially if you are on the road. Even if you are cold sober, there shall be amateur impaired drivers out there. Veteran, I hope you and all your fellow LE Officers are safe tonight and every night.Oh, try not to allow the New Year celebration to diminish your joy on my 57th birthday today, New Year’s Eve. Whew, I made it to another one!All the Best Always, And in All Ways.JusSayin

It was that way in WWII. In the movie A Bridge too Far remember the Belgian lady whose house the British were occupying. It is a true story. The old lady continued to carry her daily duties of shopping and going out in the middle of fierce fighting. Her luck did run out and she was shot going outside. She refused to change her routine. Hopper may be the same way. Just carrying on the same way he has since before the war. We shall see. Sometimes in adverse situations you reach out for a little change. In Nam in the field when wet and hungry we would open a C-ration and carry on how the Army messed up and sent us Sirloin instead of goo in a can. It was all in jest and made us laugh. A little laughter in hard times always helps. Break the tension or loose your mind.

Has our Mr. Hopper lost a loved one and snapped to the point where he thinks he can walk into Trudy’s cafe and get cake? I’m looking forward to seeing where this winds up.

Happy New Year, folks. :) I tend to think that Mr Hopper is legitimately confused. He looks to be on the elderly side. . …I’m not sure if that’s a bead of sweat on Linda’s brow, or a tear. She may have instantly realized how sad Hopper’s condition is, and feel a tug of compassion……(Which is good. It means she’s seeing Endtowners as people now, not as mutated monsters)… And if I were a storyteller, I would take great delight in watching others pull apart my stories, for it means I’ve created something that’s provoked great interest..and I’ve got them thinking…. Aaron’s doing an awesome job with this storyline. I"m totally hooked :)

We will now see how Linda handles the curve ball. I would say bring him a bowl of beans. Put a candle on it and call it cake. Sometimes it can all be in the presentation. Let’s see how she handles THIS request.

I like how we readers amy know who the story is about (Linda), but we still have no idea of just what the story is about. I was recalling the dream sequence from a few weeks ago and realized no one had thought about how she DID see herself as an anthro and realizing what would happen to her if she was in contact with Topsiders again. The panel showing her sitting in the corner was when she finally really realized tha past was over for her.So Aaron, where are you gong to lead us?
