Surprised that between yesterday and so far today no one has mentioned the game that started it all- PONG! (Yes, Virginia, it was an arcade game for a few years before Atari brought it into our living rooms.)
So did I- especially at a nickel a pop instead of a quarter, and free games if you topped the preset score. It took a great deal of finesse and touch to not TILT!
Real nice characters behind you … run & get out of there fast! You’re to young to be in that place & mom’s usually know best… listen to her & don’t get talked into something just to be ‘cool’ and afraid to say no.
This story arc puts me very much in mind of the immortal Gord, who ran a video/computer games store that the youth of the town – and sometimes the not so young – viewed as an informal games arcade. Gord did not mind this so long as they bought something and it did no harm to advertise the gods with a view to making sales. but the two types now standing behind the boys look typical of Gord’s harder bargains, who he dealt with on a “one stroke and you are out” basis.
I reccomend the Word of Gord mightily, to those who have worked in retail and who know the kind of Situations they have to deal with.
It may be found written Here and contains much of wisdom and laughter as it pertains to video and computer gaming stores.
Improve? as in those losers standing behind? Some video games are fine, but kids who do a lot will never benefit, unless they switch to DESIGNING them.
Sorry John, but the “pure of heart” are more often brought down by their thuggy ‘friends’ than the other way around. Remember that one is known by the company they keep.><>me
