I don’t buy Girl Scout cookies unless they’re made from genuine Girl Scouts.

Commentary on the fact that your getting less, supposedly so they can keep from raising prices, and yet your still paying the same. Any percentage less while not lowering the cost is actually raising the cost. They can cut down on the number of cookies or the size of the cookies, both of which is cutting down on the wieght of the total package, and say their not raising their price.

But think about it, say for years you’re paying $3.50 for something that weighs 32 oz.. Then the folks selling it start selling it at a weight of 16 oz. for $3.50 and claiming it’s so they don’t have to raise their prices. You’re getting half as much as before but your paying twice as much for the amount your getting. If at 32 oz. it cost $3.50 then half of that weight for the same exact product should cost $1.75. Not $3.50.

Well, he did say “I’ll take a box”, not “I’ll take a dozen cookies”. They gave him what he asked for.

Note that these extortionate little thugs are NOT “Girl Scouts”! They are “L’il Scout Girls”! We wouldn’t want Cartoon-Boy to get sued. Would we?

I’m a pastor, so I always get hit up by the Girls Scouts at church for cookies and the Boy Scouts for popcorn.

I like when the little kids (of any group) sell me something but the parents who bring their signup sheets to work are a different story.

With all the hoopla about gays in the scouts….I wonder how parents feel about their children even having a sexual orientation (one way or the other or both) at that age? Isn’t sex something we want to try and keep in the adult age groups, or am I hopelessly outdated?

You don’t have to buy ‘em. Try checking the grocery store, you’ll probably find some brand name or store name cookies that are basically the same. I know some of the Keebler cookies seem to be the same. Also look into Todd Wilbur’s Top Secret Recipes line of cookbooks. His Even More Top Secret Recipes has recipes for the Shortbread and Thin Mints Girl Scout Cookies so you can make ’em at home. The Thin Mints recipe makes enough for 108 cookies (as long as you made them the same size as is supposed to be as what used to come in the boxes. Think one of the others has a clone of their Samoas in it. Gotta find a clone for the Tagalongs and Dosiedos myself.

I can understand their havingto do something because expenses for making the cookies are going up. And technically it’s not the Girl Scouts themselves actually making the cookies. But come on, you say you’re not raising the price but you’re giving less for the same price? That is indeed raising the price and believing people won’t pay attention to that. Many don’t, but those of us who do become less likely to buy. You regulary go to some pizza joint and buy two 14" pepperoni pizzas for $8.50 (we’ll say they have a deal on pepperoni and cheese pizzas, they sell two 14" for the same price rather than a from time to time having a BOGO special) are you going to be happy when they decide to stop selling two pepperoni’s for $8.50 and start charging you that price for just one? Effectively the price of those 14" pepperoni’s would run $4.25 if sold one at a time before but now their individual price has just doubled. And now you’re saying that not only have the Girl Scout cookies kept the same price while the amount inside has gone down (which is actually raising the price because you’re getting less for the same price) but they’ve further raised the price. That’s like saying instead of paying $8.50 for the one pepperoni pizza, which used to be two for that price, you’re now paying $12 for one.

As a Girl Scout volunteer, I think this comic strip is more offensive than it is funny. Girl Scouts are obviously being referenced.

The sale of Girl Scout cookies is BUSINESS run by girls and their adult volunteer helpers. It is part of the educational programming of Girl Scouts which aims to help young ladies learn about economic, salesmanship and marketing, public speaking, and goal setting. It has been a Girl Scout activity since the early 1920’s and has help brand Girl Scouts.

Girl Scouts is a non-profit organization that receives 68% of its funding through the sale of products like cookies. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has bought them.

Sounds like they have the ‘courageous and strong’ part of the Girl Scout Law down, though I’m not sure about ‘considerate and caring.’
