Wow! lessee…. 1. Krazy Kat, 2. Superman, 3.Hagar’s wife Helga, 4. Phantom, 5. Trixie Flagston from Hi and Lois, 6.Tess Trueheart from Dick Tracy. 7. Garfield, 8. Snoopy, 9. Beetle Bailey, 10. Olive Oyl from Popeye of course, and 11: A classic in her own right: Nancy, of course!
Some musicians and songwriters are excellent at reproducing the original song while keeping their own style in tribute to the original artists, and Guy is overflowing with talent like this in the comic world!
If you go on my Twitter @guygilchrist and on FB at The Nancy Comic Strip…you will see the dropped panel. There is one every Sunday….an extra one I draw for the 1/2 page tabloid size. I’ll leave it a mystery who the character you haven’t seen yet is!
I also would like you all to give a big hand to Tom Brenner…who did the color in today’s Sunday, and has been working with me on color in all my books and this strip’s Sundays for many years….since 1982, in fact! Tom is an art professor in Connecticut, and one of this country’s finest pastel artists.
WHOA, amazing strip. Being a teenager, I’m sad to say that I’m not well acquainted with all these characters (those being the Phantom, Trixie Flagston from Hi and Lois.
Guy, this must have been really fun to draw. Wonderful tribute to classic comics! I must see the ones I’m not aquainted with once I have this time.
this is so great! It’s a keeper. Long ago Nancy was boring, but it’s been good the last several years, more even. I remember when they were reading an article about hair. they looked at each other and said something about not understanding the article since neither one has normal hair!
