I feel for Luann, now…. Empty nest syndrome leads to more scrutiny for anybody the youngest may decide to bring home….

So where in the heck was Luann anyway? She’ll be crushed if she gets the big news second hand
Faux Real over 11 years ago
“Nancy – here’s your chance to make Frank feel young again…”.That was my first thought.Glad I’m not alone here.
Mikeyj over 11 years ago
That look that Nancy has right now is what I had predicted would be her first reaction…so I was off by a week; someone called this exactly, yesterday

Yes ask my 82 and 83 year parents.

Donny – may I call you Donny? – there are about 212 comic strips on the GoComics site. Why don’t you spread some of your love to a few of the others, instead of dumping it all here?
ReneTray over 11 years ago
Yep. And when the grandkids come then older.
Mikeyj over 11 years ago
Left over from yesterday:
@Mikeyj
If you are saying the Captain, as in …and Tenille, she’s a “Toni”, 2…..^^No, I was talking about Brad’s fire Captain, who went to the Fireman’s dance with his “friend” Tony

M.J.:“She brings him home everynight… on her laptop”
Ok, then, let me respeak: when she decides to bring the laptop to her parents…….-————————————-And who says it’s that guy (Quill) that she keeps?
JayBluE over 11 years ago
Tony/Toni correction: let’s leave that one in yesterday….. I didn’t recognize what kind of woods those trees were in….
RBLawyer over 11 years ago
I don’t know. I think we might have a lot of fun comming. Nancy telling Toni all her embarassing Brad stories. Like the time he got caught peeking into the girls locker room.
JayBluE over 11 years ago
Well, I’ve got to go get reacquainted with the back of my eyelids….. Good night to this day (now yesterday), and Good morning to this one…. and in the words of Bill Hailey and his Comets…. After while, crocodile!

You’re being too kind.

They’re gonna feel even older when Broni (that’s Brad and Toni) adopt Shannon and make them instant grandparents.
sjsczurek over 11 years ago
Old starts at 35. Subtly at first, and slowly, but before you know it, it has you, and you’re done for. And then some kid comes along and bumps you off.

I wonder if Luann will learn in tomorrow’s Sunday strip.

Per Tom Petty, “If you never slow down, you never grow old”. That’s the philosophy I live by.

“Old ?How about the parents of Frank and Nan…..Or, are they Arlo and Janis ?”^^aaaand….(organ/keyboard swell effect) what about Naomi? [Sorry! I just couldn’t resist using this in an old Electric Company reference, for “Love of Chair”……]

Now will you let Luann graduate from high school?
JayBluE over 11 years ago
What’s old in our eyes, is always young to someone with more stripes on their arm than us…. a 60 y.o. will say to a 38 y. o. : “Well, you’re still young, yet”…. they may look at an 80 y. o. and say: " I guess I’m not quite at THAT stage, yet…"and a 38-40 y.o. will look at a 25 y.o. and say: “in a few years, they’ll learn…” so it’s all relative! We feel older to one set, and yet someone older than us is thinking of us as still young, and so on and so on…..

Where was Luann during all of this?
Terrywoebegone over 11 years ago
Who’s Luann? I like this strip, it should be a comic based on them and the in-laws. Sans annoying and one dimensional eternal teen characters.

I’m thinking that you would be an interesting person to talk to in real time. just saying…….

Old is when your grandkids tell you they are engaged.
JimT8 over 11 years ago
Old today does not start until 80..
75 according to one reckoning (WHO, I think) with 85 being very old, but a favorite cartoon shows two old guys at a bar, with one saying “75 isn’t the new anything!”

If a little thing like this makes them feel old, just wait until they have great grandchildren.(not that I do, but know several who do)

Where are Toni D’s people? For some reason she comes across as an ambitious little refugee from some trailer park in Turlock or SaltonSea. Slab City perhaps?

Hey, no mention of Brad’s teeth, in panel two, in panel three they are gone. Keep the teeth, looks younger & happier.

TJ’s wise.*But only with the help of the DeGroots. Every time I see that arched doorway in the house, I think how he imagined the construction that became a blockade, and how Bwad helped cut out that doorway. Voila! They turned a negative into a bonus.*Then he got Bwad to propose to Toni on April Fool’s day last year, and if she refused it was only a “joke”. Seemed dumb then, but a mere 365 days later Toni replayed that entire scene but with herself popping the question and Brad saying “yes”. So again, TJ’s idea worked.*On today’s strip— why does Dad wear a bow in his hair when he goes to bed? Or are those two fleas who are dancing?

Donny, my friends call me Fuddy. You can call me Mr. Duddy.-If you want to be the top poster at GoComics.com, you’ve only got 64,000 posts to go, before you catch Night-Gaunt49.-One of the great things about America is punctuation. You should try some. It clarifies one’s message more than coffee.

Levi, re your and Donny’s posts:*I’ve come to the overdue realization that there are two kinds of people in the world— those like me who think being rude is never ever funny, and those like you & Donny who think there is a great deal of overlap between rudeness and humor. So I’m going to let those running barbs just fly by me from now on.
My view:o ——————————————————oRudeness———————————————————- Humor
Your view:OO (They should be overlapping circles)

Hey Dad, about to sleep in your striped green button-down pajama top, probably with matching bottoms. I hate to tell you this, but only old guys do that! ZING!

But, when is Luann going to told? Did I miss it?
JayBluE over 11 years ago
a local rock station used to play a twisted tune, based off of Eric Clapton’s song…. it was titled: “Rogaine”. “…..You’re in the hair club for men, Capt. Picard got you in… Rogaine…” was one of the lyrics. If anybody remembers who did it, I’d be grateful… several versions are up on youtube, but the ORIGINAL one is fuuuuuny!
JayBluE over 11 years ago
The saddest thing, at the record store today, happened…… two guys were milling over the vinyl, going:: Linda…. Rooon… stadt?"….. and they milled over a coupla 70s and 80s acts kinda like that, but they almost look as though they were born around the time when those acts were still were making albums that were on the top 40…. and they were quipping how “back then, you didn’t know what you were getting in an album… it’s different with our stuff on mp3 and youtube….” it seems that there was a time when people were exposed to other generations’ stuff as well as the current one, but these days, the only thing people see is whatever is in the now, and the mentality of “forget everything else” seems to be the norm…..
sarafaye over 11 years ago
I’m the opposite. I hear very little new music. My teenage son listens to classical or comedy stuff. He doesn’t expose me to anything really modern and I don’t really seek it out.
JayBluE over 11 years ago
I found the “Rogaine” parody llyrics, at least, by John Hunter. I got them off of Amiright.com, the misheard lyrics website. Some more of the lyrics: “If your scalp’s got a tan, and Yul Brynner’s your man, RogaineYou got chrome on your dome, all your hair’s on your comb, RogaineHey bald guy, better buy, and apply, Rogaine”
