A recap of our story so far- pills become fond of Sluggo (who, like Nancy, is an orphan) and it seems Sluggo likes hanging out with Phil, too! Faith Mission All Welcome Phil discovers that Sluggo has two uncles- More and Les Who?! First base! Sluggo's uncles are truckers! They pay all the bills for Sluggo, and visit him whenever they roll into town! They stay as long as they can! How'd ya do on that math test, Sluggo? The rest of his upbringing is left to an angel network headed up by Fritzi Ritz- And if you finish your homework- you can stay for dinner and TV!

Quite a change from a daily strip to complex story line & in-depth character development.
Not that I think anyone cares, but I like it.

Sluggo is a lucky little fellow.

I’m liking this! I’ve wanted this comic strip to break out of it’s norm for a long time. The joke-a-day format gets kind of old after a while. It doesn’t have to have a story arc going all the time, but one every once in a while is a great idea, I think.

I concur with the general comments from the last few days. I am enjoying this story arc immensely. Phil has filled a void I didn’t realize existed. We get a recap of how Sluggo met Nancy and now we learn about Sluggo’s humorously nicknamed “Uncles”. By the way, does anyone care to guess why uncles is in quotation in today’s strip?

When did Nancy start having story arcs?

So, will Sluggo be taught to drive a semi? He and Nancy could co-own a semi and drive cross country on jobs. I also get the feeling that Fritzi would have fed him even if he didn’t finish his homework.

I still think somewhere down the line, phil is going to adopt Sluggo.

Still doesn’t explain why child protective services hasn’t picked Sluggo up and put him in a foster home nor why Fritzi never adopted him.

Add me to the growing list of appreciative readers Guy! While I like the cute capers (like the sunday strips) this retelling is a real plus!

Enjoyable story.I think the “…” Uncles are more of Sluggos’s guardian angels!! And it would be great if Phil adopted him! then…one big happy family!!

@wcgreen3Not only that, but having his “uncles” arrested and charged with child neglect, leaving Sluggo to his own devices because he’s alone 99.99% of the time.

Who knew that Nancy & Sluggo were products of a faith-based initiative?

Thanks Guy!!I see the libs trolling… I’m amazed at how they want everyone to have the right to a lifestyle except conservitive minded folks.Oh well, to each his/her own. (Dont wanna be sexist ya know)BTW Guy! I love the reference to Abbott and Costello

Is it necessary to politicize EVERYTHING? I haven’t seen any “trolls”.

The funny thing is when he did the abbot and costello reference originally Sluggo said Third Base

I think, too, if Sluggo got adopted, then it would have to be bye bye to Nancy having a “crush” on him….. so having “uncles” to pay the bills and also having Phil, Fritzi and Nancy for “outside support” (it would seem like when neighbors can help look after a kid who may be “home alone”) would seem to fill in those gaps, and still leave the possibility for Sluggo and Nancy later on in growing up (whenever THAT would ever be, lol!)

This has been fun learning the back stories on Fritzi,(would like to hear more) on Sluggo, and would like to hear more on Nancy. I hope I didn’t miss that part.

Sluggo is not an orphan! In a Bushmiller circa 43-45 his mom appears.
