    It pays to leave your options open. Good critical thinking skills.

    Alex home-schooling…now there’s an interesting thought! Actually, I can kind of see it, and it’s not that far from the way some of my friends raised their kids (decades ago, of course, LOL).

    Neither my wife nor I have any color sense or decorating sense. “We should paint this room a different color.” What color do you want? “I dunno. What color do you want?” I dunno. Red? Blue? Green? “We could flip a coin.” Just not white. The whole house is painted white. -—- We actually ended up hiring a consultant! -- So none of your stereotyping, sirs! The person who chooses the colors should be the one that has a preference and an opinion. That can be both, either, or neither.

    You’ve never been married, have you (or, at least, you haven’t yet fully grasped the concept …) ?

    My immediate thought exactly!

    Classic husband vs wife battle…we recently had a battle of the sexes oriented trivia game on Toon Trivia by Ricig here on GoComics. Good fun…hope to see some of you there.

    I had a friend when I lived in Rome, who announced to her husband one evening that she wanted to paint the dining room purple. He diplomatically told her that maybe she should think about that for a while…she did. Three months later he arrived home from work to a gloriously purple dining room!

    My wife called me to ask me to bring home some 7-Up. I said, “OK, 7-Up.” I got home and put the 7-Up on the table, and she said, “Where’s the ginger ale?”

    @Arye Uygur

    Well, I’ve been married (twenty years) and I was the wife component of that marriage, and my husband and I enjoyed making all of those kinds of decisions together. We were both artistically inclined, and while we didn’t do anything fancy with the walls, the color choices were always made jointly. And we were always happy with the results. (Except, now that I come to think of it, that very first kitchen that we painted before we understood how much more intense a bright, sunny yellow is on the walls than it is on the little paper strip. We lived with that yellow for five years, and never made that mistake again!)

    Ohhh Alex is dating herself, she said “tape”.

    Today it’s just “record”, as it’s so much more non-specific as to storage media.

    This strip was written by old people for old people. This would make so much sense to youngsters they wouldn’t get the joke.

    “Tape” is one of those terms that outlives its original meaning and applies to its successor technology, like “carbon copy” (or CC:) and “film”. People of any age are going to be using it to refer to video recording even when the video is holographic.

    My husband had better decorating skills than I and a swifter decision-making capacity; I would sometimes query a little change but not usually. Stereotypes can be useful if neither party challenges or feels diminished but better results come from an open exchange of ideas.

    “I guess that also means an equal number of people disapproved of G.W. then as disapprove of Presdient Obama now.”

    Actually, it doesn’t. 48% approval doesn’t mean 52% disapproval, because “Neither approve nor disapprove” is one of the choices in those polls.

    ’ Bush’s approval rating in the May after he won his second term…. 48%’Red, I think you mean ‘stole his second election’. .If you remember, after this his job approval went down to the thirties, permanently. I remember a commentator saying that if he could deliver a solid 40%, the republicans would keep the house. He didn’t, and they didn’t, thank God.
