I use a brush on the cat (brushing backwards to loosen everything), then the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner to get all of the loose hairs. She loves both by getting attention and easy to dispose of grooming that she does not have to do, and I love not breathing in tiny bits of nasal floss when I pet her.

I’ve had a total of 5 cats over the years. Only one ad the hairball problem…

All the mice stand around and chant “Hair ball! Hair ball!” While Luddie gags.

I don’t know about cats and vacuums, but we used to have a dog that LOVED to be vacuumed. We had to lock the door to whatever room we were cleaning, to keep him out from underfoot.

“If I turn on a vacuum cleaner, it clears a room of all cats”

The instant I opened the closet door for the vacuum, the cat would instantly time-warp itself to another dimension and not re-appear until a good half-hour after I was done. No idea where it went.

Neither of my cats like grooming. Petting is good for about 10 minutes but if I don’t want them around all I need to do is pick up their brush. The groomer told me to never bring back one of them.

I tried vacuuming my cat once, doesn’t work with an upright vacuum with a beater brush.

My cat hates the vacuum, and loves to have her face brushed, just not her tail.
