Rip Haywire by Dan Thompson for June 12, 2013
Transcript:
Breezy: Rip, I understand your feelings are hurt - and your heart has been stomped to bits. But you can't give up on love and romance - why, I bet if you looked around... You'd notice a strikingly beautiful girl just waiting to leap into your arms. Rip: Where? Is she setting something on fire? Or trying to steal something? Breezy: With red hair. Rip: Have you been drinking that plum brandy again? There's no one around, I tell you!

Hit him with a log, Breezy. You never know, it just might get his attention.

Breezy, a fictional philosopher once said, “After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true.”

I’d say Rip is as dumb as a tree trunk, but that would be insulting the tree trunk.

I think it’s obvious that most of the commentators here look for something else in a woman than Rip does—excitement and a penchant for jumping beyond what’s “safe”..Brandy seems to look for something in a man that Rip does not possess—financial stability and a willingness to just “be here now”..Rip and Cobra are both danger junkies; that’s what makes them a good match. A Rip+Brandy romance is doomed before it starts—no matter how good they look together..You people are projecting yourselves onto RIp...Then again, it’s just a comic strip. What do I know.

I’m telling you, folks, the best way to make everyone happy here is to give The Ballad of Breezy a spoof of Preston Sturges’ hilarious 1942 satire THE PALM BEACH STORY! Check it out on Saturday, June 15th on TCM’s THE ESSENTIALS! You’ll be glad you did, I tell you! So, Dan, what do you think of THE RED HOT ADVENTURES OF BREEZY? :-D
