Une Nouvelle Graphique
Man: There you are.
Prisoner: Wha...?
Man: N...n... ...Nooooo!
Kate: Um...is there a point to this "graphic novella" Danae?
Danae: Yes, to exploit adolescent boys, then swing a major movie deal.
The first panel!….The gun shot holes in the windows…Wiley, you’re killin’ me…And he’s crouching on top of the lamp post..Drawn so well…And.the garbage is great….Panel 6 is just plain cool….
He got the shock of his life, i’ll wagert! Also bet he or his survivors are suing Con Ed for neglgence for leaving an electrical power station lying about. After all, signs and warnings such as the illustration do nor applyto superior beings such as himslef.lying about
You might want to follow your own advice about doing some research. This cartoon originally ran on 4-19-09. This is a vacation reprint. Why the angry response to such a small matter?
I think it’s called “nostalgia.” So many adults today played with Transformers as kids that it would stupid NOT to cash in on it. For some of us, though, those memories aren’t pleasant and movies like that just inspire dire antipathy.
“Oh, jees. A vacation reprint? You should warn us. What a letdown. Only Doonesbury does that!”
Ok, you’re going to have to explain this to me, as I have no idea why this would be a “let down”. First of all, no, it’s not just Doonesbury that takes vacations. A lot of cartoonists do it. But more importantly, you didn’t know this was a reprint until I pointed it out to you. When you read the cartoon today, you weren’t “let down”. Third, don’t you get vacation time in your job?
Plot = Mr. Bluepoint supersentient, resenting banishment from the Pointless Forrest, is more than a match for the professional assassins sent to rub him out. He trains a band of misfits to take down the ruthless Boxer Inc. before they destroy the world.

if you really want to exploit adolescent boys, you need scantily clad women.

Being Danae, the error is understandable, but that should be “Une bande dessinée”.

Are they making any movies now that AREN’T nothing butchases, gigantic explosions, mind-numbing sfx and no disc-ernable plot?

When I was an adolescent boy scantily clad women were required reading.

In defense of the graphic novel, I recommend Templar.

It’ll never sell as a movie, Danae, the plot’s too involved.

Reminds me of some of the graphic art in the first editions of “Heavy Metal” magazine in the late 70s. (Except for the last panel.)

Once in a while Danae comes up with a scheme that is scary in how well it would work in real life.
