That was just a little heavy-handed.

An obvious plot device! :D Cute.

Did Jef open a new market that needed the recap? Or are we just taking a break for a (dare I say it?) cup of coffee?

One of the more subtle fourth-wall demolitions in the current spate.

Uh, Jef? We’re ready for something new!

Perhaps everyone should buy one of those coffee mugs and give it to Mrs Olsen.

Our butts have been officially chewed, rebuked and some other big words that fail me at the moment.

I like to think tht new people discover Frazz on line every day, as I have done with several of my now favorite strips, so no complaints about the recap here.

No complaints here, either. I hope it is a lead-up to see a few people buying funny mugs and saying/doing goofy things with them.

I thought Frazz was talking about recapping the story for the customers so as to encourage them to buy the mugs. He and Mr. S. could be just sort of lounging about, and every now and then, when a new crop of visitors would arrive, Mr. S. would ask his open-ended question and Frazz would do his recap. No?

Maybe you’re right, and this is not a lead-in to the next episode, but just an existential goof that doubles back on itself instead of moving ahead. Stay tuned….

And here I thought the joke was the exposition.

This strip seems to have drawn in the tropers.

That he recognizes the need to recap validates Watterson’s decision to quit while he was ahead.
