This one will be enlarged and given to my in-laws. My father-in-law recently retired, and he said the nearly the same thing. That last earthquake you felt was his wife’s response.
i am wondering what is the management theory behind micromanaging. micromanaging, stack employee ranking, 6 sigma, black belt, and other management “strategies” should be discontinued.
I recall one retiree who tried to do this sort of thing. He rearranged the kitchen in his first week, and now gets to cook all the meals. He wised up soon after that.
David: I can relate! My wife still works part-time, and it helps keep us both semi-sane. Part of my reason for retirement was disabilities that “snuck up” over time, so I’m limited on some things, but still keep as busy as possible, physically, because it’s “use it, or lose it”.
As far as actual retirements go, I can do you one better. When my brother-in-law first announced to my sister his intention to retire from his government job, she replied, “Well, you’re not going to sit around the house all day while I have to go out and work. Get a job!” Which, being the whipped person he is, he did. Now he’s working and she is not, supposedly to take care of my other sister, who really only needs her help on rare occasion.
