I’m really surprised we never got to see what Bernice wore to the pool party.

Wow- Luann doesn’t sound like 18 yet.
JayBluE about 11 years ago
Instead of showing her in a 1910 fashion suit, we were give a glimpse of her silhouette ^Yeah, it seemed to be heading that way when I saw the silhouette, at the pool party…. shades of what she wore to the pool when we saw the contrast in styles between her, Luann, Crystal and Tiffany, complete with sun-screened nose and “Anna Karenia”…

Seismic2, what do you have against Quill? You want Luann to be lonely? It’s tough to be a teenaged girl without a guy.

After reading the to-do over the reams of postings the last few days, am just wondering if someone has installed a meter on this site. Lol
Some of the posters here have been following Luann almost from the beginning and I think it’s interesting that they can highlight the differences in Luann and the other characters between then and now. I’ve always read Luann but doubt if I could remember as much as they do.

Luann can only become a senior once. It looks like the beginning of the last year of the strip as we know it.
evergrey about 11 years ago
Wow… I was not this shallow in high school. Thank the gods.
Angelalex242 about 11 years ago
Okay, Seismic, but…what would you have Quill do to make him ‘interesting’ to you?
StoicLion1973 about 11 years ago
An entire week of a “Beach episode” and no Bernice? Gyp!

Many parochial schools take the gamesmanship out of what girls wear with uniforms. It’s sort of like Gunther’s shirts on everyone.
Topper-dog about 11 years ago
Ugh. Teenage girl angst. It’s so boring! Get on with the interesting stories of the other players, like Toni and Brad. This strip should actually be renamed, and Luann should be a minor player. Just my opinion, of course.

Frank is not wearing one of Gunther’s shirts. All of Gunth’s are long sleeve and Frank has on a short sleeve.~~~~~~~~~~~~It may not be Gunther’s shirt, but he could have made it for Frank.
JayBluE about 11 years ago
Wonder if Nancy was going to sit with Frank and go over some ol’ memories in the photo book she’s carrying… if Lu went to join them, she probably would go ballistic even more at some of the previous choices in fashion….
Mikeyj about 11 years ago
MJ are you going to see Polyphonic Spree when they come to your part of the world?^^Never heard of them, either way, the only new music I’m into is Japanese all-girl punk; mostly, I listen to big band from the 30s/40s and rockabilly from the 50s

""tomorrow’s strip need to show Luann in pink and Bernice in blue." Maybe they’ll compromise and one will wear a yellow top and the other a green top…they’ll both wear jeans… ;)
ORMouseworks about 11 years ago
Dang…I did it Again! Oh, well, maybe twice is nice or something like that… ;)
Sisyphos about 11 years ago
Same old stuff, indeed. Maybe Luann will get serious this school year. Or maybe not….

@IamJayBluE regarding the trip to WI Hoteling in Indianapolis after taking wife, 84 yr old dad and mom to see family in WI. (Dad still practising medicine). Saw everyone and had great and meaningful time in the beautiful WI country. To finish up trip tomorrow back to NC. Nice to see some of this ole land.
Now trying to catch up on comments. Today’s strip: our classic Luann, how simple and nice.
Mikeyj about 11 years ago
Mikey – there’s still too much skin showing :)^^She didn’t want to be a party pooper

Excuse me? You think we women have nothing better to do than throw tantrums about the clothes that other women are wearing? Sure, I like to look at clothes myself, but I’m not going to give myself a heart attack just because another women wears the same color or top, pants, etc. that I do. We DO have a lot going on in our lives, too, you know.

Perhaps the small number of comments is due in part to today’s being a holiday in the USA and in part to the humor of today’s strip being based on Luann’s having the maturity of a junior high student rather than that of a high school senior. I’m sure there would have been more comments had it been Tiffany who was portrayed as being so shallow.

70s are usually Sunday numbers around here, though it’s not out of the ordinary to see more for then… may be a case that yesterday was like a “Saturday” and today would be like a “Sunday”…
imbaldeagle about 11 years ago
Maybe the girls should wear tie dyed T-shirts. Are they still around?https://www.tiedyeusa.com/live10/images/styleimg/small/1555-699-S.jpg

Good for him or not, it could be good for the strip. Something most people would not hold against him that could create awkwardness between him and the only distantly religious Luann. It would be a brilliant excuse to address quite a few exciting topics.
JayBluE about 11 years ago
To be honest, I’m now looking forward to their new school year, and I don’t even have to go!
tegm about 11 years ago
haha wow… after so many years, finally she’s a senior, I would love to see the comic strip go beyond high school. Would be a major change. I still remember my junior high class doing the Luann musical (in 1991).
