Yep, I’d think the heirs of Hans Christian Anderson would have a stronger case against Disney than Disney would have against Mark. Funny how they conveniently forgot to put the “Hans Christian Anderson’s” In front of "Little Mermaid in the title. At least when Disney appropriated “Bambi” and “Pinnochio” they originally gave the authors credit in the title.
I think even if today’s copyright laws were in effect when Andersen wrote “The Little Mermaid”, his copyright would have expired before the movie was filmed. Andersen died in 1875. Still it would be nice if Disney gave him credit.
I had a different take. From the last panel, I thought she looked like Cathy. I was thinking she wants to be Cathy when she grows up (like Calvin became Frazz).
It’s always bugged me that nowhere in our beloved Airplane do they give credit to Arthur Haley or Flight into Danger, the book/teleplay it was based on.
