Warning! The following is a comic strip…. The following strip is only a comic strip. Do not attempt to think that this is anything other than a drawn 1-3 panel depiction of a fictitious story. Management advises you to tailor your comments to reflect this. Repeat: this is a comic strip, not a stromic crip, or a strip comic, nor a cromic stip… – please don’t comment in a way that will confuse others into not knowing if you know that this is a comic strip, and please, oh, please… don’t eat the dasies!…

It certainly seems as if Tiffany and Quill will be trading jobs. So we shall get Quill and Luann together, and TJ will be making Tiffany’s life miserable. In the Luannverse, this represents the best of all possible outcomes.

Let’s see…. Quill was dissatisfied with the way things were going on TJ’s food truck, and Tiffany is quitting as a teacher’s aide alongside Luann for the little kids. What if she and Quill just exchange positions? Then, maybe each will be happier: calm Quill can work well with his Luann among the little ones, and the Tiffster and TJ can strike sparks and do a bang-up business!

It may be a cartoon/comic strip, but I have known lots of folks both male and females like Tiffany, self centered and just plain stupid about most things that don’t involve them. Tiff just can not stand the thought that LuAnn might know something or be better than her at any thing. So it might be a comic strip but there are lots of Tiffany’s running around and a good portion of them are Timmy’s…lol

I hope she decides to stick it out. ^That would be nice! Like Seismic says, she has positive, human qualities, and she must really have felt that she’d be able to enjoy working with the kids, there…deep down, when she puts her mind to something, she shows some really good traits! In addition to her resolve, she shows that she can be focused when she is motivated to pursuing her goal… not only that, but the look she has in the middle panel reminds me of the despondency she showed in the aftermath of the E.O.Z. at the lonely autograph table. This also shows that she has feelings …. – But that look in her eye after “the Chin” started speaking of Luann makes me think that she has realized something and sees what direction she wants to go in… though, still, “something could make her turn around and stay”…. but what it is, I couldn’t “tell you why”….

The really frustrating part of this plotline (contrived as it is) is that the kids actually had a good time working on the flag pictures, under Tiffany’s direction. On the other hand, we haven’t seen Luann interacting with her own group of kids at all. All that we’ve seen is Luann’s butting into Tiffany’s group and telling her that she shouldn’t be promising the kids that they could attend the dance (when, in fact, she hadn’t made such a promise). But we must take Principal Jawbone’s word for it that Luann has her group of kids all well behaved and adoring her. No one with colds or runny noses or sick tummies or crying fits or temper tantrums in Luann’s group, no sir! It must be so, since it’s her comic strip. (Has anyone pointed out that these aren’t real people, and this is in fact a only comic strip? If not, let me be the first!)

    here’s the perfect business model:

Tiffany attracts customers (okay male customers)

TJ up sells them more food than they intended to buy while customers check out / flirt with Tiffany

Quill works the grill for less than minimum wage since he ’s here on a student visa, not a work permit

Not surprising at all… I’m amazed Tiff lasted this long!

But, I’m not so sure she’s going to switch jobs with Quill. Quill might move to take Tiff’s position at the school (if his Visa status permits – I don’t think “Big Chin” could overlook that), but I just can’t see Tiff cooking in a food truck with TJ. No way, especially after the Fire Dept. fiasco. Still, both arcs were in the story this week for some reason. We’ll have to see.

We have yet to see Q at Pitts HS, so I wonder if that part of the arc is still viable? I guess it should be if he’s on a student Visa. Or, perhaps that magically changed to a work Visa somehow. Lots of weird things happen in a comic strip.

Anyway, I hope Tiff gets the message real soon, or she’s going to find out what it’s like to go through life without a decent social network/friends, etc. Her looks can’t carry her forever.

In most states, any program involving minot children (whether an afterschool program, scouting program or school itself) now has requirements for administrators to check on classes or groups. It’s part of an effort to stop possible mistreatment of kids (all kinds of mistreatment). So, if the principal himself isn’t occassionally observing Luann and her group, then he would be relying on reports from whoever Luann’s direct supervisor is. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< The interesting thing is, seismic gripes that every minute of Luann’s interaction with the kids isn’t shown, and then he reminds everyone else that this is just a comic. Well, if it’s just a comic, why insist that every minute be shown as if it’s a biography?

Yeah, but remember Tiffany’s interview, when she was explaining why she was qualified for this job? She said nothing about experience taking care of kids or interest in doing that. The principal even called her on it. I would assume that the same thing would happen if Quill interviewed. I’m really hoping that Tiff’s replacement will be Gunther. That just opens up so many good story lines, it would be a shame to pass it by.

I think that I can clear that up!!!! His reference to robots was as in ‘I (Jay) was "telling people that they ’couldn’t comment on the strip in such and such a way’…. he was criticizing me for trying to ‘control’ how people commented… that’s the way he took what I was saying about my ‘Warning… this is a comic strip, etc." remark… – I can see how the word ‘robots’ would alarm you, but I can tell you quite certainly, you were not the intended for that …the ’robots’ he was describing was how he interpreted my statement as trying to make people’s comments become like such… that’s why he said to me… “STOP IT!”…. the “Phillistines” part was the bonus, in the way like you described…. NG has a rather ‘interesting’ way of stating things, that you sometimes cant’ tell, but I can assure you that his language was meant for me , and not you, at all!…. :-) ;-)
