Clayton: Gee whiz, Bernard! Look at the engine in this thing! Bernard: Top of the line! state of the art technology, Dad! Clayton: How am I supposed to tinker with this vehicle?! We made a big mistake buying dad the mercedes! Whats wrong with it? Nothing! Thats the problem! Dad actually enjoyed tinkering with his old heap! he'd get it going and get all excited - And he'd pack it up and drive out to Gustine Lake with mom. That old tin can never made it to the lake! Ha! One of us always followed them and waited for the break down! Which was why we bought him the benz Happy Birthday Dad. we're giving the heap back to you, its on a tow truck out back cause something is wrong with it.

Yes, because “African-American culture” is such a monolithic thing that the “Black folks” you’ve hung out with must be representative of every demographic in your country.

Robb is African American himself, so I guess he can be as authentic as anyone else. Maybe Dad is a “gee-whiz” kind of person.BTW, this strip is really sweet today.

Regardless, I think it’s groovy that the cool dudes grokked the sit well enough to return DaddyO’s wheels.-What I like best is that the father inspired love in his sons and they respond by trying to make him happy, even if it involves him driving around in a clunker apt to give up the ghost at any moment.-He done good.
