Very clever wordplay. Love this comic.

The easiest way to tell a swift from a swallow is that swallows are colorful, while swifts are generally monochromatic. That, and nobody cares about the air speed of an unladed swift.

“Hell is other people,” and there is, apparently " No Exit " for some who do not care for this strip. Why read it if you think it’s beneath you? is a question I would be asking myself, and then I would move on to what delights me. I think Jef is brilliant, and, as one who has been way overeducated, I find his humor often subtle on one level and just plain funny on the surface. As long as Jef keeps putting them out there and as long as I remain on the planet, I’ll be reading and enjoying his strips. Great going, Jef. You’re a gem of the comics world. Keep it up!

Word dissociation! My Mom and I, and later my friends and I, would play this game.

I play it with my kids. The deeper the vocabulary and extent of knowledge, the further you can go. I think we managed it for 50 miles on a road trip once.
