Oh, Lordy, isn’t that the truth! Your ice cream melts while you wait in one of the two checkstands open (out of ten)

I’m not sure I trust those voices in the self checkout lines. Nobody can be that cheerful.

The self-checkout at Home Depot was stuck on Español the other day. What a great way to learn another language!

I refuse to use the self checkout. I once stood in a Home Depot with something in my hand, and spun in a slow circle, looking for a clerk. Some “suit” came over and asked me if I needed help. “I’m looking for someone to help me checkout.” He pointed to the self-serve line, and I said “That’s what I mean”. Handed him my purchase and walked out empty handed.

Ever had this happen in the checkout? You get into line behind ONE person, and they immediately pull out enough coupons to wallpaper a room. And then they start arguing with the clerk over why this one or that one isn’t valid. That’s why I never went shopping with my dad. It was sooo embarrassing when he did that

I find the longest line and grab a ‘National Enquirer’ off the rack to keep up with the “real news” while I wait.

…y’know, not trying to be mean or anything, but if we went with that attitude, who knows where we’d be….when the automobile became mass-produced and affordable, blacksmiths were pretty much eliminated. I know there are still blacksmiths out there, but proportionally to back then, they might as well be extinct in North America. unfortunately, when tech progresses, old jobs get eliminated…as a human race, we should take better care of those who’s jobs were eliminated – retraining or better retirement benefits…

I was behind a lady yesterday in the express checkout line (10 items or less). Her granddaughter of about 8 yrs was with her, and she had the girl count the items in the cart, which she did out loud. There were 11 items. The lady actually got out of the line, and into another behind someone with a full cart. I thought that was so sweet.

Good luck with your dishonesty. I just finished a three month stint on a Grand Jury. A large percentage of the cases were for shoplifting and they all went to trial.

“If you don’t want to receive Social Security, if you are able to retire, please use the self check line, as it has put many people out of work,”-And don’t eat any food grown using tractors or plows, it put over 90% of the work force out of work when folks shifted growing to such newfangled methods..And don’ t use cars, they put lots of rickshaw drivers out of work..And if you DO use checkout clerks, make sure they aren’t allowed to use scanners or cash registers, make them figure your bill by hand, and only pay with cash rather than put the tellers and thieves out of business..Before you know it, you’ll have full employment dong many jobs machines could do better, faster, cheaper, cleaner. Why, there won’t even be enough to do all the things you need done to eat and wear clothes and get to work. And you’ll starve to death, naked, stranded on the roadside.GOOD TIMES AHEAD

@ Luv them Pluggers. You forgot to mention that one of those lines is the EXPRESS line! Then, you’re behind a little old lady who’s looking for change. And, to add insult to injury, the cashier can’t make change. To quote Dave Barry, “I’m not making this up!”

One of our local drug store chains has put in self-serve check outs. But they kept the full service check outs. The full service checkouts are never closed. Same with the self serve. …. It is just that busy of a store. .Haven’t used the self serve. Not at the drugstore. Not at the grocery store. If they want me to use the self serve then everything is going to have to cost a lot less than even the sale price..And just because I have to bring a bag to the store – Does Not Mean I Have To Pack My Own Bag!
