Probably got her down payment for the next time, a little combat pay for this time, and if she’s really good, re-charged them for the last time. She’ll have her college fund all funded before Calvin reaches 6.

Would YOU stay home all the time with a kid like that, LX013? She has to get away occasionally to keep from committing Calvincide.

Is nobody else concerned by the fact that Calvin displays typical sociopath traits? He will immediately lie to get out of any trouble, never shows remorse for the people he torments, only showing anger at being caught or foiled in his plans.

I’d love to watch Calvin! The way to handle the sudden dash outside is to simply ignore it. In fact, go in hiding herself. Calvin will freak out and come looking for her in no time. It’s just a game.

A good tanning of the hide is in order, and of course it is not done. So, history will repeat itself when kids get away with it!

Get a lawyer, Calvin! That confession isn’t admissible in court.

Here’s another possibility. Roz could’ve said; “hey Calvin, let’s play a game. A card game like War or Fish, or maybe a board game like Parcheesi or whatever, and we’ll make some popcorn and have some fun.” Of course that makes for a less entertaining comic strip but as this strip mirrors real life so well, it’s unfortunate that children are subjected to hateful parents and babysitters and oh yes, what’s that statistic about 6 of 10 girls and 4 of 10 boys are sexually abused? There are people who love children and treat them with kindness and respect for their humanity and feelings and quite often those children respond very well to that. But to read this strip and totally take the parents side and see Calvin as a little monster I think is ignoring that child abuse is not something someone made up but is a real and pervasive issue in our world. I think Calvin’s statement that Roz hates kids should be considered as having at least some element of truth, yes?

A forced confession will not usually standup in any court. Except Mom’s court which does not even require a confession. In fact Mom’s court usually only requires any kind of suspicion that you are even in the general vicinity.

I would insist on a pre-sit-ual agreement that permitted me to use corporal punishment – failing that capital punishment (just kidding).

Calvin is only one kid. I was a camp counselor and the kids I had make Calvin look tame.

I think when your kid has to tell you that the sitter doesn’t like him….you’re not paying attention. Kids don’t behave well for folks who make no secret about the fact that they don’t like kids.
