Television: In other news the department of homeland security today reduced the Nation's threat alert level to an "All Clear" code green. It's St. Patrick's Day green seemed appropriate," said a source. When asked if this might put citizens at risk, given the situation wiht Iraq and Al-Qaida, our source scoffed at the suggestion. "It's not like stores are going to stop selling duct tape." Roger: Dear, this is just water, right?

I don’t get why Roger asks if it’s just water

I got a ticket for speeding in Scotland in June, ‘05. There was a sign warning drivers of a “speed trap” ahead but I saw it too late, hence the ticket, which arrived in the mail about 8 weeks later. It seems like that system could work in the U.S. I doubt I’m the only dumb bunny on the roads.

Dont US have speed cameras? In Sweden they have a lot of cameras that take a picture of you and the driver plate. And if they identify you speeding you got a ticket in the mail. Ive been lucky so far…

There are red light cameras in some municipalities in the U.S. Some munis are considering adding them and some munis are considering doing away with them.

If you have an EZ pass for the turnpikes in the Northeast. Read the book that came with it. They reserve the right to send you a ticket if they think you went to fast between entering and exiting.

This seems a tasteless comic bearing in mind the Irish history of terrorism.

I imagine most countries have had terrorism as part of their histories including the U.S.

The duct tape reference is to the “panic du jour” at the time this comic was posted. People were to cover their windows with plastic and seal it all with duct tape to protect themselves from chemical attack. It seemed like a good idea, but even at that, it was a partial measure. How many of these people also sealed their doors the same way?
Given the nature of chemical weapons, they have much greater effect in a confined space like a subway, or a terminal or a building. So if I wanted to take out a building, I would release the gas inside the building not outside. In this case, the plastic / duct tape would do a get job keeping the bad stuff in. All the better if I could release it in the heating / air conditioning vents. Did people cover them too?
People are probably more likely to be harmed by what they seal in the house with them than by a chemical attack.

They took the speed cameras out of my little town pending a court decision. To be honest, those cameras are not about safety, they are only about revenue, really nothing more than a tax on motorist driving through town.

it’s been there, Ford has already said that the reporting that it’s cars already ALL do so they can monitor engine problems records speed and location so they know who’s BEEN speeding.
