I’m confused…when did Meg become middle-aged, and why is she feeding leftovers to the creepy-looking main squeeze?

Meg looks like a kid to me, but Skeeter’s nose is too big. You’ve gotta grow a nose for decades to get it like that.

Is it just me or do those two remind me of Arlo and Janis, junior size?

What is going on? Meg is only like 4 or 5? Is she suddenly 10? Am I missing some kind of symbolism?

She says “My mom’s restaurant”, so perhaps this is Meg’s daughter? And Skeeter looks old because he’s not been eating properly – too many leftovers.

2-days and this is “killing the strip”? Okay…..

Shows that there is more to these “grown up” decisions than meets the eye. I like more layers to the storyline. I also think it is funny that so many readers here are excellent cartoonists and could draw better than JJ.

last we saw Meg she was 6 or 7. not sure how old she is supposed to be now? thought the farm Gene and ML bought was out in the country back from the road? odd for someone to walk by the front porch? maybe history will repeat itself and Meg will get knocked up early like her mom did.

Nickname? I know places in the South where “Skeeter” could be a given name.

Yep, it’s now 2035 and Gene and whatsherface are divorced. Gene went on to a cheesy reality TV show and made a fool of himself and is now in seclusion. Whatsherface stayed with the restaurant, but finally has to sell it, Arlo passed away from a massive grabber on the couch while yelling at the TV, Janis has alzheimers, Miley Cyrus is now President, flying cars are finally real, but for some reason Ludwig is still sunning himself on the couch…Go figure.

Well, Meg’s lack of “chest bumps” indicates that she’s still a pre-teen, but her parents should be concerned that she spends her days hanging out with Don Zimmer.

These look like the kids in Putnam County Spelling Bee.

I agree that the comments on the artwork are nitpicky, but I too am confused by how Meg went from 6 to 10 in a couple months.

During the days of the Ludwig storyline, and later the story of Janis’ obsessions, commentators asked for a return to Gene and Whatsherface. Now they have it and I wonder if they are happy. Flash forwards can be SO disconcerting!

I agree with the others — the artwork has changed, and the little girl looks really weird.

When Mary Lou and family were (re) introduced in 2008, Gene mentioned that Meg was 4-years-old. I would estimate that she’s 9 or 10 now but given the uneven flow of time, I cannot say for sure. Only JJ knows.

Is anyone else seeing a resemblance between Meg and Skeeter with Janis and Arlo?

I like the fact that we have a new character (at least I don’t remember seeing him before) and I already like Skeeter. Obviously he has a story.

Did Meg have a massive growth spurt? I thought she was like 5 or 6? She looks 11 or 12 here. Oh, where does the time go?!
