I doubt she loves “Family Circus” — she looks younger than 60.

Sure would be somewhat nice if Bill Watterson continued making “Calvin and Hobbes” after almost 20 years of termination.

Topeka just dumped Pearls and Get Fuzzy… and kept The Family Circus.

Ah, poor Cartoon-Boy, bedeviled by a Family Circus lover (probably) as well as by readers who have a hard time separating Cartoon-Boy Stephan from real-life Stephan Pastis and Staci from Staci. And such a PBS-hater the red-headed ‘toon wench is! Must be one of those people who can’t abide puns. —As distinct from real-life readers who disparage puns for fun….

Do you “subscribe” to Dilbert? When I tried to read what you were talking about the go-comic link sent me to dilbert.com. I have never had that happen with any other comic. I don’t normally read it here though. My paper has it. It also has PBS, but the comments here are hilarious.

She looks like the one I saw making out with “Cathy”.

My eyes got tired…too many words, and what was it all about Alfie?
Kip W over 10 years ago
If she’s young enough, she didn’t see the gags when Family Circus used them the first time.

The correct protocol . . . is to use what we call a “link”, as so:Is ‘Pearls Before Swine’ creator getting divorced??
Gokie5 over 10 years ago
I imagine Arye Uygur knows how to link things up, but if he doesn’t, I sure understand, because I don’t. Also, I’d rather someone just send me the thing than make me look it up. Thanks, Arye – I was wondering about that, too. Tried to Google it, but didn’t get very far. While I’m ablather, I’m pushing 80 pretty hard, but have always :- P ‘d Family Circus. Most kids don’t talk like that, and if my youngest grandkid asks me something inane (the others never did), I say, “Please don’t ask me why I said [or did] something. It’s annoying.” (I know, I’m horrible.)

Pastis got his punning ability from Billy’s occasional Sunday comics…

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which is IMHO a fairly decent rag, had readers vote on their favorite comic strips a few years ago. Banished were Non Sequitur and Doonesbury. Family Circus remained. They kept Pearls, also. (Don’t know what that says about Stephan’s strip.) At least they no longer run Mallard Fillmore on the op-ed page.
chabias over 10 years ago
Thanks for sharing that. Now, I just hope Staci doesn’t start wondering if Stephan is fantasizing through his strip.

“Dilbert has an eye-wateringly, Pastis-painful pun today. However, GoComcs only has the Spanish version.” And as with most puns when translated to another language, today’s Dilbert really doesn’t work in Spanish.

I am under 60, and I still read Family Circus… in fact… much under 60. I just enjoy the old-timey classic feel of it. To each their own. Of course, i also enjoy this comic… and many, many others that are more bizarre… For example, I read a comic about guns… and I’m not a fan of guns… but the humor is awesome.

She’s got no taste, Stephan. Not worth it.

See above… You “despise” those strips? What do you reserve your real hatred for? Man, there are some strong emotions zipping around over a simple comic strip….
Packratjohn Premium Member over 10 years ago
Bottom line, if a simple comic strip can evoke terms like “Hate” and “despise”, how can you get upset when a Muslim gets upset over a comic depiction of the Prophet? Are you going to launch a Jihad because Jeffey couldn’t find his way home in the Sunday comics? You people need really need to think about the words you use.And no, I’m not Muslim. I am in fact an atheist. So don’t start.

1,142 words according to MS Word. Man, enough with the copy and paste buttons! Did you hope in your wildest imagination that we would read all of that? Are you paid by the word? Please, ease up! I feel guilty when I write (not copy/paste) over 20 words!

LOL! Poor Stephan…

For those who don’t know—“Jeffy” Keane now does the comic his father started years ago. Jeff and Steph (Pastis) are good friends and were roomies when a group of cartoon artists went to Afghanistan a couple of years ago to entertain the troops. Also, if you follow Steph on his blog or on Facebook, you will get a good idea as to what he’s really like.

He could tell women that he is Louis CK. That might go over better.

Sorry, but I just don’t get the humour of Stephan drawing being dumped and separated from Staci, when in reality it NEVER HAPPENED! To me, it would actually be MORE understandable if it HAD happened (one could chalk it up to therapy, catharsis etc.) Mind you, I am still faithfully reading the strips, but this arc REALLY annoys me!
