Coincidentally enough, I just spent much of the past two days having to deal with my laptop. []One of the family cats decided that she had to jump on top of everything, and in the process fouled things. []I finally managed to get my registry cleaner program going, and so now the laptop seems to be doing a lot better. Hopefully, she just simply goofed a few things up and now it’s all back to normal.
Back in the old days, one of my jobs was to upgrade PCs. On one very notable occasion, I had just installed a hard drive and was booting it up. I was putting some of my tools away and when I looked back at the the screen, in the upper left corner, it said “No”! I have to admit, I was a little spooked. As near as I can figure it, the whole message would have been “No boot device” or some such, but for some odd reason, it didn’t fully display.
Love today’s art work. .. Yes. That look is what it feels like sometimes. .I try glaring at the computer and saying I hate you. I make a face. It makes a face. I jab at buttons. It whines and hems and haws. – then I unplug stuff and wait. – When everything is plugged in again…. no more whining from either of us. All better.
One of my first consulting clients had me come over and install Quickbooks on their home machine.
“No boot device”….
Seems that their son had tried to install a game, and when instructed to format a floppy to go with the game, and missed the “A” part….
This was in the era where a compressed copy of the pre-installed software was provided on the HD, and you were supposed to get a box of diskets and copy that to them. Right, they hadn’t done it…. Before when Format was reversable, too….
This week’s strips are in, but they were delivered late, so they haven’t been processed. They should start posting. Hopefully today.-—————————-If not, blame Sal.

I guess the blue screen of death was worse than we thought. It stopped today’s strip from being shown.

Probably because I got it in late. Deadlines keep catching up.

Never got a Sunday update & so far no Monday edition of Working Daze. I blame Rita for the snafu.

Working Daze hasn’t had a new version for two days now. Are you guys OK? I miss your comic!
