When I was a banquet manager at a large hotel complex, I was at a pool party once and it caused me to be 3 hours late for work. My boss was a good friend, but strict….On the way back, I had stopped on the road next to a 100 acre field of Gladiolas and I grabbed a dozen or so…When I finally got there, I gave them to her……She said, “Don’t think this gonna smooth me over…” but they were on her desk for days….We went out dancing later that night….
Some lady used to do that to me. I asked her to stop. She was all what does it matter? It’s just a few flowers…Two days later I hooked up the sprinkler power to a motion detector. Priceless. She complained and I just said what does it matter? It’s just a little water. We no longer speak.
When we were first dating my now wife used to live by a county park that had a great big rose garden.
I would go by it everyday to visit her and at least once a week I would pick roses from it (after all my taxes were paying for them).
To this day my wife (25 years later) fondly remembers that we always had fresh flowers in the house, so it’s a tradition that I gladly continue (even though I have to buy them now).
I think you all are missing the point entirely—I don’t think she stole them, I think she picked them from her own garden without being prepared with a vase. When you clip a rose you’re supposed to put it immediately into water or the speed at which they wilt is impressive. Snip. Dip.
It’s been a long cold winter, but with this strip, JJ’s once more up to speed. What a relief, I was beginning to believe that he had withered on the vine.
Pride. She didn’t have the vase at the ready, the flowers will wilt (especially if it’s a hot day), and the speed-wilting will be because she didn’t properly prepare before cutting them.

There is a woman in our neighborhood that goes along and picks everyone’s flowers. One day she will be shot.

It still makes us smile.

I hope there is not a federal park nearby where she got them, or she will be in jail.

Janis doesn’t seem like the criminal type.

Nah – swiped on her walk. That furtive look in her eyes tells the story.
