This living fossil is very disturbing. Get it freed from the amber so it can be swatted and squashed!

Fair enough, but the male proboscis is still almost as long as the female. You couldn’t use it to determine sex — for that you look at the antennae. (Now who’s coming off like Sheldon Cooper?)

Either she’s getting suspicious or she’s long since moved on.

Of course she’ll most likely show up in a later strip in the arc, either as a fossil or as a second mosquito in amber.
