Gladys: I'm off to the mall.
Brutus: I noticed our tires are a little low...
Brutus: You'll need to put some air in them. The gas station has a machine that runs on quarters.
Gladys: They make you pay for air?
Stil some stations around here with free air, but the people don’t respect them. They leave hoses out, run over them…vandalize then complain when it gets replaced with a quarter machine.
Those quarter air machines won’t even get my truck tires up to the 80 pounds needed.
My college has “free” air available (I’m sure it’s included in the cost of tuition like parking) and there’s a grocery store chain in my area with free air but the closest one is much further than the closest gas station. Not worth it for the price of the gas.

The air is free, it is the electricity and equipment that costs to deliver it, that you’re paying for.

In California they have the quarter machines but the attendant is required to turn the air on without you paying if you ask.

In most cities it’s not hard to find free air(pumped by large compressors)..Just look for a Shell or Chevron gas station/car wash
