Our oldest is 18. That makes him 88 in human years according to about.com and the yahoo animal site. The other boy is 15, that’s 76 in human years, same as my husband. I’m the youngest in my household now. :)
When you live alone, pets are just SO important. One of my uncles missed getting that “gene”. When my grandmother lost her pet of many, many years, she mourned him as much as she mourned the loss of her husband. My uncle just didn’t get it. My dad told him, “When Pop died she still had Pugs to talk to. Now she has no one.” “Well, she still has us.” “Do you live there? Do you sit beside her while she watches TV?” “Well, no.” “OK, then.”
A good lesson here. Too many people who have had pets for years start taking them for granted. They should stop and take the time to hug them. They will be gone before you know it.
Yuki is 18, Sam is 8, Ming is 7, Pudge is 9, Milo is 5, Ashcat the stray, unknown, Mr. Stubs the stray unknown. Helped take care of an abandoned cat, Zipper, who was 27 when she passed on.
The oldest any of my cats has lived was to 16… when I had to have her put down..I have 3 now… I am not sure about the age of the oldest (she was a stray), and have lost track of the ages of the other two.
My cat “Gypsy”…so named because we found her wandering alongside a country back road as a kitten…made it to 17…a couple of weeks before she died, she was still very active…running…climbing trees and having fun.
My Hannah Bee, a kitten born by her stray mom on my back porch lived to 16 years and 4 days. On our way to put her down, on a Sunday, (my Vet of many years hasn’t charged me many times for things) I called my Vet and told him it was time. She died in my arms on the way, she looked me straight in the eye and meowed, I swear to this day she was saying Goodbye! Prior to that we had Teddy and Gallagher, 2 mutts who grew up together, they lived to be 17, both, they went down 1 year apart. It was time. I have rescue cats now, 5, Molly is my baby, always with me. I love the others as well. 2 we bottle fed, my youngest son and I, we found them under our Catalpa tree at about 2 weeks old. Our vet is still amazed how healthy the BROS are, and they have been with now almost 3 years.
My Aunt’s cat was older than me and I was in college when it died and a good friend of mine had a kitty who lived to 20 1/2 before cancer did her in so I have high hopes for our kitty who is 13 about this month (stray kitten found in a dumpster.)

My only cat made it to 14.5. I still haven’t really got over it since I had the “kitten” since I was 20

We had two, a boy and a girl, about a year apart. Both lived until the ripe old age of 17, dying about a year apart. We still miss them.

Just ignore the trolls… don’t encourage them by giving any recognition to their stupidity.
