Methinks he gets the pretty bed and she the normal bed.

Just push them together and make them conjoined.

I get the “fraternal” thing. But I was just focusing on the beds and as you have stated, the fact that when people order a double bed room, they may call it a twin bed room, but don’t say any “kind” of twin. – And I think people were just saying to “join” them only in respect to treating them as inanimate things and without “assigning” gender and not in regards to having everything correspond exactly as in the human experience. – And the “ugly” comment would apply, regardless. Some people joke about there being an ugly sibling, and not necessarily twins for that matter. One movie reference for this is in the film “Robots”…

Don’t get me wrong though. You are correct in the fact that one is “all girled up” and the other isn’t…. but again, I think that people were just focusing on other aspects of the humor, here….

Now, see: I took it to be that it was the twin beds that were fraternal. I.E., the word fraternal modifies the word beds. So the the beds could be spare beds to be used by any gender of guest(s).
