Bob: So which camp are you in, Conan or Leno? Joe: Leno. It'll make life a lot easier. Bob: Uh... how so? Joe: Because it removes any conflict with watching Letterman. Bob: Hmmm... good point. Joe: But there's still the Kimmel factor. Bob: Life is just one big conundrum after another, isn't it? Joe: Thankfully, we have network executives to sort it out for us.

And we know how well the suits handled THAT situation don’t we?
fredbuhl almost 15 years ago
So, he’s the one who still watches NBC.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Or we have the early bedtimes to handle it.
Kosher71 almost 15 years ago
Fallon .
Can't Sleep almost 15 years ago
Brian Williams should start getting nervous - I hear Leno wants to take over the Nightly News next!
cutiepie29 almost 15 years ago
I just ignore them all in favor of comic strips online. Much more consistently funny, and I can add my own input here if I want to.
poppy1313 almost 15 years ago
Leno has lots of cars to work on at home
cdward almost 15 years ago
I’m in the “None of the Above” camp. Just don’t watch it at all.
auricle almost 15 years ago
I watch Mondays also, for Headlines. My favorites are the wedding announcements.
wdgnas almost 15 years ago
i wonder if joe and victoria’s wedding announcement will be on leno’s headlines?
Yukoneric almost 15 years ago
I get up at 5 AM, forget the late shows. I do watch Letterman on occasion. Leno just doesn’t cut it for me.
DolphinGirl78 almost 15 years ago
I get up at 4am, so forget the late shows even more for me… Plus, I don’t even think they’re that funny… so…
Wiley creator almost 15 years ago
@fredbuhl- “So, he’s the one who still watches NBC.”
Apparently you didn’t read or understand the second panel.
wicky almost 15 years ago
I only watch “headlines” after that zzzzzzzzzz.
dinosaur123 almost 15 years ago
Wiley-
Thank you for all the laughs.
wicky almost 15 years ago
YES Wiley, thank you for the laughs.
FresnoDude almost 15 years ago
I notice they are not both drinking beer. Has that always been the situation?
pearlandpeach almost 15 years ago
Wiley, thanks for the “sort”. Wish you could put Ferguson at 10:30 and just outright fire Leno….and Kimmel and that other guy, etc.
the networks just need to go in a NEW direction for after news tv watching.
Digital Frog almost 15 years ago
a long time ago I saw a great toon about a lady being polled and her response was “Letterman?, oh I just turn off the volume and use him as a night light…”
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Yes those headlines are great! Haven’t watched them in years though.
mllamm almost 15 years ago
@pearlandpeach, I agree with you 100%! Ferguson is the funniest on TV, BY FAR. We DVR him and watch him over dinner the next day. Never fails to have us ROFLAO before long. Someday Fallon may be a close second, but not yet.
Plods with ...™ almost 15 years ago
I don’t watch any of them. They’re not funny enough to lose sleep over. plus I get up @2AM
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
somebodyshort, yep me too.
I just wish somebody would pay me 40 million to go away. Hint, hint.
okvol almost 15 years ago
I’m just going to watch Lopez on TBS instead.
fredbuhl almost 15 years ago
I stand corrected. Or rather, I’m sitting corrected. He’s the one who still watches Letterman.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I rarely am up at that time to watch any of them, but if I am awake and there’s nothing else on, I’ll watch Letterman.
aldridgeg almost 15 years ago
Who?
Sorry guys. Popular Culcha ain’t got nothing to do with Culture.
spok27 almost 15 years ago
Sorry, after 10:00 I start turning into a pumpkin. No late nite TV for me.
Justice22 almost 15 years ago
fedbuhl, I think you’ve got it right now. Personally, I believe Leno could have made it in primetime if he had been on one evening a week. The people who watch late night type shows are a special breed and it doesn’t carry over to primetime.
wilburgarrod almost 15 years ago
Radish you have the right idea. No need to be up till 2 am when you can catch your favs the next day. Oh Wiley it appears that you enjoy Letterman like I do along with Craig Ferguson and Daily on NBC.
parethed almost 15 years ago
I started watching George Lopez on TBS when all this hoo-hah started…found out he is funnier and has a better show than any of ‘em…
Creniere almost 15 years ago
Hmmm….good book or bad TV…what to do….
Varnes almost 15 years ago
It’s Stewart and Colbert for me. Ten times funnier than the others, although I have to admit Ferguson is a lot of fun. I usually don’t care much for interviews….
Varnes almost 15 years ago
Creniere, well put. There is very little that is more entertaining than a good book. Christopher Moore, Carl Hiaasen, Nevada bar, Robert Crais, G.M. Ford, Christopher Buckley, Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut, etc….
ronaldmundy almost 15 years ago
thanks for the “umbrella”,Wiley.
AKHenderson Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Johnny Carson reruns. He was the best there ever was in late night.
MisngNOLA almost 15 years ago
Dra, I love Hiaasen’s books. Makes Dave Barry’s writings look like a piker’s.
Wiley creator almost 15 years ago
@AKHenderson- I disagree. Steve Allen was still the best in my book. All the others followed his lead.
sablebrush5 almost 15 years ago
I’m with Henderson - Steve Allen was good, but Carson was the best… by far.
ChukLitl Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Leno’s never been good for more than 10-15 minutes. O’Brien’s never been good. They should’ve gone with Arsenio.
fredbuhl almost 15 years ago
Steve Allen was in another universe. It’s a difficult comparison to make.
treered almost 15 years ago
Wiley is a Genius! Love the strip; but don’t have a clue what they’re talking about! ok, something called a “tv” and late night…
pearlandpeach almost 15 years ago
@ fredbuhl = you are correct, Allen was a show unto himself.
He and Carson are shows that will never be copied
Trebor39 almost 15 years ago
Who are those people?
Varnes almost 15 years ago
I guess I’m in the Steve Allen camp. Steve was hip. Carson was only with it…
notinksanymore almost 15 years ago
I don’t know any of their names, all I know is I prefer the old guy over the guy with the big jaw or the guy with the funny hair.
pbarnrob almost 15 years ago
Carson was OK, Steverino (Allen) was the absolute BOMB, but Ernie Kovacs was the originator of so many things, it’s just not a fair competition.
runninanreadin almost 15 years ago
Other than ESPN, TCM, TWC or CBS during pro football, Syracuse basketball or March Madness, the ONLY show I watch (off DVR or DVD) is SyFy’s “Eureka”. Otherwise, the last primetime show I watched ANY part of was the 1st episode of “Cheers”, plus I DID watch the last Johnny Carson Show (w/ Bette Midler)…my nieces say I’m “weird”…
robinisafox almost 15 years ago
Hey there is the THOUGHT, a net work that shows Johnny Carson, Steve Allen, Jack Parr on alternating nights, using the guest hosts to fill in the other nights. Maybe we should pitch that to Oprah and her new network………..
