Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for June 21, 2014
Transcript:
Marigold: Strive to be humble. You are not better than any other child, even though you are a unicorn's friend. No more than Dakota because she smells better than you. Phoebe: So I smell bad? Marigold: You smell like glue. Phoebe: I glued my coat 'cause the zipper broke. Marigold: Humility will be easy for you.

I have seen it written that the best description of true humility (not the fake stuff Dogbert uses to get people to give him compliments, just before he uses false compliments to get them to insult themselves) is knowing your true name. And if your true name is “Unicorn”….

I don’t know whats more interesting Marigold valuing being humble or Phoebe’s creative solution to a problem.

One can respect and admire humility without actually possessing it. Phoebe, safety pins work too.

Being humble is one of those things which the more it’s needed the harder it is.

Humility pretty easy for those little kids that are interested in everything but the constant barrage of how inferior they are..That type is very, very, rare.

It seems kind of funny to hear the word “humility” come from Marigold’s mouth—kind of an oxymoron coming from her.
