Luann: "...And it turns out I have a talent for stage design! I know exactly where everything should go!"
Mom: "Huh."
Luann: "Did I hear a little sarcasm in your "huh"?"
Mom: "A little? I'll try again"
Mom: "HUH!"
Oh, there’s “Lorrraine, Againn”! She’s always walking herself into her own punch lines. Sort of automatic, I guess…. – Maybe you can “snatch this one out of the fire”, by explaining that “Doctors don’t operate on themselves, you know!”….

Yeah, a theater talent is magicked up out of thin air for our Lorraine, so (probably) she can get a scholarship to go to Mooney Uni. I’m sorry, this smacks of poorly written fanlit. Greg, Karen, you should never, ever make professionals (Ms. Manezone) or other talented characters (Quill) look stupid at their own work just to make another character (Luann) shine.
Luann will not be given a scholarship to Moony. Why would Mrs. Manezon give a scholarship to someone who has spent the last week trying to show that she’s so incompetent at her profession that an untrained amateur can do it better?
A quick “Hi” and “Bye”!!! BB later on in the day!-——————————————————“There never was a good war, or a bad peace.”(Benjamin Franklin, 1706-1790…in a letter to Quincy, 11 Sept., 1783)
What all this tells us is that Luann has an eye. That’s not the same as “organized.”. I’m sure many fine artists are not organized with their stuff at home.
Once, I did a favor for a girl (that I was crazy about) and along with myself and another friend we helped her clean an older gentleman’s house from top to bottom after he had passed away. She was promised money) from the surviving caretakers for doing it (and another friend of ours was going to be moving into the house), and we got recruited to help her. – You’d be surprised at the gunk and the disorder that we faced. Seventeen to twenty trash bags full of stuff (and not filled with feathers, I can assure you!) that I had to move from topmost floor to bottom. Before we could remove the gunk that was also deposited in places, we had to organize and straighten up and separate what was trash and what was going to be taken by the family/caretakers. Nothing was in it’s right place. – Once we were able to move all the accumulated materials (clothes, books, etc.) and then organize it into what was going where, then we had the task of scrubbing and cleaning the house. – “A little chaos” is okay, but the thing is, if one doesn’t “get a handle” on their stuff, somebody, somewhere down the line will be the ones doing it, instead…. it saves a lot of time and energy by finding some kind of effective method. Whatever works. Different strokes for different folks. But not getting into the habit of some sort of organization sooner, will meet up with you (or somebody else) somewhere down the line….
No kidding, she’s skeptical, and I’d rather she didn’t roll her eyes. Fact: creative people can have messy homes. I know, because I’ve seen some cases of it myself.
Okay, it’s an easy joke/sarcastic remark, Nancy. But in fact there is no nexus between Luann’s messiness in her own bedroom and her new-found ability to organize a theatrical set…. Encourage your daughter!
There are plenty of people who are at “genius” level when it comes to their professional or “external social” lives, but absolutely blow it in their personal/private lives… I gather due to the emotions that kick in. People can look at situations outside their own person as “rational, logical and clinical” but once it turns personal & emotional, “logical & clinical” fly right out the door. I’m thinking this is the case with Luann and her incredible skill with stage design/organization vs. her room. I know I have a bunch to do before I ever sell my place. But I’ll consider it a right of passage. Hopefully, not “mine,” just yet… :-)
Does anyone here want to venture a guess as to what story will take place Monday? Without making any predictions, I will speculate that things will continue with Luann & Quill at Moony Drama Camp. But then again, we might get an update on Brad & Toni’s life, as they have not been featured for quite a while. I’d like to see what Bernice is up to this summer. There is a remote possibility of some scenes with Gunther & Rosa in Peru, although I doubt that will happen for at least a few months. Other than that, it would be rather pointless to dwell upon any written-out characters. Possibly, as a change of pace, there could be a situation involving Frank & Nancy! Maybe there could be a “side trip” showing some incident from Tiffany’s charming little life. I don’t know…
And might I add that it showed them graciously handing out signed copies of some strips (recent and classic) and were also taking pics with fans… and were shown interacting with them….
This strip’s movin’ a bit slow since the tribe finished HS. Throw something exciting into the mix. But, they’ll all be starting college soon. After all, it’s the end of July , and already I’ve seen the back-to-school ads on TV. Feh !!
If it’s on the floor, it can’t fall any lower.Ever seen an artist studio?Often, they look like a major traffic accident! That old guy, mentioned above, may have inherited stuff from many relatives, who were hoarding similar stuff. He was the end recipient, and the “Tsunami” may have overwhelmed him.My place is like that, and I live 3000 miles away! That room is hers to live in, and she probably knows where everything is located, even tho it looks messy. How’s your room, Mom?
I really hope Luann realizes that “knowing where everything should go” is the least part of stage design. By far the biggest part of the job is designing those things, in the first place. We’ve seen no evidence that she is skilled at design.
Come on now, Luann…you’ve graduated from high school and are about to embark on your college education at the Community College! Its time you cleaned up your messy room And your messy life! ;)
Just dropping in to read today’s posts…did a Lot of cleaning today and also watered my roses. BB later on Sunday afternoon! ’Nite all!-——————————————————————“What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not been discovered.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1803-1882)

Maybe if she put on a play in her room, it would actually get tidy…, or maybe if she thought Quill was coming over.

Luann, your room looks like Shipoopi.

At least she found something she’s good at, and is practicing her talent. Plus, it’s way more fun than cleaning her room.

I feel for Mrs. DeGroot. I wouldn’t be able to concentrate either with all that mess around me!

Yeah… the truck probably doesn’t even have a snack bar or a restroom… or a gift shop….

Just because you have a talent doesn’t mean you use it.
. I MIGHT be a talented violinist, we’ll never know until I pick one up. (Until then, we can just reasonably assume I’m not)

You’re right, any flaws on the part of the children is the fault of the parent, back to Eve or Lucy.

That’s a lot neater than my teenaged daughter’s room. In Luann’s room you can see the floor, there is a path to the bed and the bed is mostly made up.

It will be interesting to find out which scenario you outlined will take place. Yesterday, I took “champion predictor” honors…
“Champion predictor” honors never happen to me— In fact, I am prepared to have none of my above scenarios take place!
