In some ways this week has me feeling like I’m re-watching the final 30 minutes of the final M*A*S*H* episode where everybody is saying goodbye to each other. At least the feelings of sadness of the two feel similar.

She’s waiting until she gets to DC to buy them, especially the mini-fridge. Sure wish I had one downstairs here in my home! That and a small microwave! Then I’d Never have to go upstairs to get an iced tea or something warm to eat. Decadent, I guess! ;)

Depends on what she takes for courses. and how her schooling is financed. She could get swamped with work or internships so that even if she enjoys her break, she may still be “tied down” to things in the course of her schooling or environs…..

Of course they’ll probably get together during vacations and such, but… that’s very different from getting together whenever. They know they’re at a crossroad even though their friendships will probably continue. And of course, viewed through teenage eyes, that crossroad is more like a giant chasm. ;)

First year of college: holidays and summers back in the hi-school scene with your old friends, almost like nothing had changed. then second year and he real transitions start: the new life and people begin to overshadow the old one. You begin to see how much you’ve changed compared to those who stayed home and didn’t go to college. Much later on, when the reunions begin, then the old friendships begin to reassert themselves in a richer, more mature light.

I am REALLY relating to all the kids going off to live their lives after high school because my son graduated the same year that LuAnn did – 2014. I wonder why Greg finally decided to have them graduate now, and if he will follow up on all the characters

I’m just going by what the article said. If Evans doesn’t want us to think he colors his own comics everyday, he should have clarified. Anyone reading that interview could rightfully assume he colors all his comics.

Actually, he did clarify in that Rubben address he gave that @IamJayBlue posted yesterday.

I envision Delta probably coming home for this Christmas holiday and perhaps for Spring break, but being the driven character she is, I see her making new friends, establishing new connections and probably getting a Summer internship down in DC with a government agency, or a lobbying firm, Lots of folks settle in the city in which they attended college. DC is a natural fit for Delta.

A person I know collected mini fridges from outgoing students and is now selling them to incoming freshmen for $10. Just to cover her efforts to transport and clean them. Love the recycling. My daughter was smart enough to wait for a good deal like this rather than pay full price.

“Goodbye, Farewell and Amen” might work here…” ^It does, work, and it has reminded people of the last M* A* S* H*, but I considered that “pet peeve” of yours (Lol!) and considered that it would sound too much like the whole thing was going away, instead of just a person. I figured to save that one, for a really big occaision…..

“You’ve heard of the song, “Delta Dawn”? Well, this is “Delta Gone”!” ^I also considered this one (as on the surface, it sounded catchy and humorous and a bit of reference) on Tues. or Wed., but the “Delta Dawn” in the song ‘lost her mind" waiting for someone who jilted her and “withered” away, somewhat… I didn’t want to put that on “our” Delta, and I had also considered that the wistful sadness from the song might “overwhelm” that… but that’s just “what was turning in my own cogs” upon thought of it…..

No one brings stereos to college anymore. Music comes from tiny electronic devices – possible plugged into a set of speakers – but more often connected to ear buds.

This is what a ceremony is for— to bring closure. Quick, invent one! Have a glass of grape juice and each person make a toast to the future. Followed by a hug. Or each person sing part of a favorite song, followed by a hug.*Repeat each time you part. For decades.

I was one of those millions of people who watched the last episode of M*A*S*H, but after all these many years, all I remember about it is that everybody said good-bye to everyone else. Now that the farewell scene is over, it is time to get on with some more substantial plotlines. I am anxious to see Luann’s first days of college!

Ok, who’s up next for goodbyes? Knute?

Well, we still have a bit of unfinished business with TJ. I think he will be next. He needs, at least, to leave the Horner house so that Toni can move in, after she/Brad are married. But I don’t know what else Evans can do with TJ once Brad has to focus on Toni.

Knute was not as much a drain on TJ’s time/effort, but he was kind of a compliment to Gunther. Since he’s no longer active in the strip, Knute might have some issues, unless he can strike up something with Crystal, of he can function on his own (i.e. get a job at Weenie World). I would like to see Knute and Crystal continue on, but one never knows.

I’ve tried some searching on “Classmates,” but decided it wasn’t worth paying for. So, I used FB to try to find old friends. Since I really didn’t have any guy friends in HS, most of my friends were girls. The problem with that is most got married, probably at least twice, and now use their married names. I have a few more to check out whenever I get back on FB, probably not today… ;)
