The moon is drifting because it orbits earth’s gravitational center. The massive amount of ocean water rising and falling with tide changes, alters the earth’s center of gravity.

If the Moon continues to drift further from Earth, it will be a wide-open expansion territory for Starbuck’s and WalMart (and maybe Dunkin Donuts). Franchise auctions begin shortly. Enjoy the view while you can ;- )
