I still subscribe to newspapers because Australian newspapers are good quality. I don’t know how they survived the internet, but they have, even though they offer the info free online on their own websites…
And neither site has any of the King or a few of the other syndicated ones I like, I read 3 at my local paper’s site and the rest at WaPo because the index on every page makes for fewer keystrokes while I eat my grapefruit ;-)
We would probably still get a paper but we couldn’t get them to not deliver when we went out of town. We would put it on hold–talking to the subscription desk as well as the local contact–come back from vacation and find a weeks worth of papers piled up. It took them three months to stop delivering after we canceled.
I still get a newspaper. It’s easier to read while eating breakfast. Don’t have to worry about crumbs or liquid in the keyboard. Also good for local news, more detail than you can get from the TV news (which I have on while having breakfast).

Now that I found gocomics, why do I still buy the paper?

Because they don’t have “Rose is Rose” or “Arlo and Janis”? And you haven’t found comics.com yet?

My first career choice was newspaper journalism (got a degree in it and everything), but took another path – or should I say dodged a bullet?

“Rose is Rose” is sappy and overly saccharine.

I still subscribe to a newspaper because, ultimately, that is how the news content and comics (that I read online) are paid for now. Just saying.

There will always be a demand for newspapers for:
Paper training your puppy. Lining your bird’s cage. Packing material when moving. “Drop cloth” when spray painting.
The list goes on and on!

Yall missed the point. It’s all things that will never happen, a funny Ziggy being one of them. You can add Marmaduke to to that list as well.
