So, how long can a pupil there miss school before teachers seek contact with parents/guardians to ask what has happened?

If I had brought home a note like that, I still wouldn’t be able to sit down!

A Niece (about six) signed her mother’s name to a note and took it back to school. Teacher studied the signature, called the Mother (out of child’s ear shot range) and they laughed ’til they had tears coming down their cheeks. (Then addressed the issue.)

I politely disagree, ask any working single mom out there how hard it is to get the kids to go to school by themselves. Agnes’s Grandma tried to wake her every morning before going to work. School isn’t perfect, not all teachers are perfect.

Blame the teacher.Always the other person’s fault.especially in this case where the child ignored the grandmother’s calls and efforts.Insist that the child be entertained or else you don’t want her to have to go to school. ?The teacher doesn’t have too much time on her hands, she’s just still trying to help Agnes. Wear her down with insults and blame and maybe you can get her to quit.

The sad reality is that to many grandmas like “Granny Aardvark” are raising their grandchildren – a lot of them just don’t have the energy to make sure children are doing what they’re supposed to do. And Agnes is too young to be completely at fault…If we have to blame someone, let’s blame the school attendance office. I forgot to tell my son’s school that he had a dentist appointment – they called me that morning to find out why he wasn’t in school.
