In my grade school we had long tables that would sit about 8 students per side, there were never any tables with less than 6 or 7 seven kids seated at them. In High School, a bunch of us would take our lunches to one of the labs (Biology or Chemistry) and play Euchre through the lunch period.
We used to squash an empty milk carton, take it out in the hall and use it as a hockey puck with a doorway as the goal for most of the lunch period. It was kind of hockey-soccer — we didn’t have sticks, so we kicked the “puck” instead.

And, of course, now he’s going to expect her to sit with him EVERY day.

How good that in our school, each table is assigned to a class, so you sit with your classmates, side by side.
