Yes, please bring me tailor-made entertainment to keep me ignorant and unaware of what Big-Brother D.C. is doing and whatever else is happening outside our borders. We wouldn’t want an educated mob rioting at the White House gates and Houses’ steps.
I’m sorry, did I just commit a Non-Sequitur? Thought this was the venue, if anywhere.

whoa, major downer dude. quick, let me fire up the dvr to watch last week’s American Idol … again.
Aaargh! it’s “…the generic couple [WHO] recently moved…” When did teachers start allowing usage of THAT after reference to PEOPLE! If it were a reference to a couple of lugnuts, THAT would be a different story! It’s really getting on my nerves…
But in reference to the comic…when my husband and I feel the need for a TV fix, we spend a night in a hotel and remember why we had all the cable equipment removed from our house and took down the antenna. It’s only DVD’s of movies, AS TIME GOES BY, and NEW TRICKS for us. Thank heavens for British TV.
I wish I could just disable the “On Demand” because sometimes I have to press extra buttons to get out of that loop. I’ve pre-selected all the programs I want on my TiVo, and the suggestions based on past viewing are good too. Today’s toon was very good and in fact Cable has no way to give suggestions, so the couple should get TiVo ;-)
That’s what most people say to the world when they walk out their door. You can insert other phrases too such as “Give me a job!” or “make me rich!” After all, the world OWES it to them right?
Barbaratoo, British TV isn’t at all like BBC America. There you pay for any TV program you want to watch. PPV. —- Maybe that would be a good idea instead of loading up the selection with 15 infomercial channels and 15 religious channels, etc.
Grandpa has been taking lessons from his grandkids. This sounds more like a teenage lament than an adult, Wiley. Or maybe I’m wrong in assuming that Grandpa is an adut; after all he is male.
Hey, I can turn the channel to FoxNews, MSNBC, or any other news channel for that matter, expecting to be angry in a few minutes. It works almost everytime.
This makes me happy. (The idea of suffocating conservatives does not. Now, how is it kindness-to-all liberality if you want your foes to die? Tsk, tsk.)
Just maybe the infomercial, shopping, etc channels are there to drive you to the On Demand PPV channels for any kind of stimulus, if you have any more than one unfried brain cell.
I sometimes get other problems from my cable; we had a gentle rain last night an I came down this morning to find the downstairs digital box OFF, and it missed the 3AM recording of Monty Python at the…(which I had come downstairs especially to set, when I saw the earlier one in progress on my upstairs set). I am very annoyed but just have too much going on to deal with it (daughter just announced in an email that she and the kids will come Saturday to spend another week with me; not really convenient again so soon, but I’ll adapt (she is NEVER helpful when here- as her 3 brothers always are, and just expects to be entertained while making a mess)- sorry to vent, but … I just want to try to keep slow and steady (and my head above water).

I’ll second that.

Well sometimes it works. Once a day I demand that Wiley amuse me and he’s been obediently complying for years.

Oh deahh! On Demand program will not be on the TV unless “you” have to pay before the cable company turns the On Demand program/show on.

Justice22: I don’t have “TV” at all. We ONLY watch DVD’s which INCLUDE those two shows.
