Adam: Okay, family. The last day of spring break is upon us. Our final adventure is a culinary tour of exotic foods, individually prepared and expertly handled. We'll satiate our palates with a diverse, flavorful menu of delicacies. Laura: How can we afford that, Adam? Adam: It's sample day at the wholesale club. Get your coats... Laura: ...and your fake mustaches. I don't want anyone to recognize us.

Grazing at costco

I always love the samples at Costco. Between there, Trader Joes and my grocer, I can have enough free food to fill in as lunch.

I wish our local supermarket would put out more samples, esp. in the produce isle. What does a star friut taste like? What about a “Unique” fruit? I might buy some if I knew what they tasted like first.

Go for it Adam!
Doc, one of the local stores in town has the same policy. It is very convenient with new items.
Oh, yeah. Ditto to your first post!

My husband and son love the grazing at costco. The only requirement I place on them is that they say thank you to the person handing it out. My husband sometimes forgets, but my son never does.

The crowd of usually overweight people drooling around all of those sample carts and staking their line status out with their elbows at Costco, keeping others from getting through the otherwise enormous aisles, is really annoying. I have never eaten any of the samples after watching these spectacles.
I always get the urge to feel sorry for the one sample lady who has tofu or something that nobody wants, but you can see from the smile on her face that she must have earned her way up to that cart.
