Check Dick Tracy and you’ll see that I, like a lot of people here, have been unable to see the new installments of the comic strips which should have gone live about twenty minutes ago. Two of you can see the new FA, but I can’t.
As with DT, therefore, I shall now make up my own hypothetical image of what is happening in today’s FA.
Let’s see…
Whatever it is, it struck a resonant chord with Judy and Marg….
OK, I’ve got it! I’m picturing a woman lowering a man made out of oak into a wood chipper. She’s smiling at the viewer and saying “A hard man is good to grind!”
I do a couple of things to trick a comic into appearing.
ONE. I manually type in the current date. Sometimes, I get a “70 error” message, but sometimes it works.
http://www.gocomics.com/frogapplause/2010/03/17/
TWO. If you click the “?” (to enlarge the comic) it will also “magically” appear.
That’s how I was able to see Teresa’s strip today. Hope this helps.
FS: I see a question mark in the middle of Fusco, for example. Try clicking the center of the comic and the comic will pop out enlarged. It did for me.
So, somebody please tell me if I guessed accurately? I think the ability to psychicly divine the content of FA before it comes out could really be a marketable skill.
Now then, since Teresa’s shown us a little of Toho’s take on the King Kong franchise, why don’t we have a little look at what Toho did with Frankenstein’s monster:
Rotifer: Nobody is asleep because I made little voodoo dolls of everyone here, and I poke them with little sporks morning, oon, and night.
I typed “oon” for grapfhics. Feel free to borrow my Whipping Boy, Bill Hinds: http://tinyurl.com/ydfx2et
http://tinyurl.com/nq4b3s
Flight Suit: Thanks for all the Monster links and updates. And my belated thanks to other FA readers who have posted vintage photography links, movie poster details, and other fun ephemera in the past.
Thanks, EVERYONE, for your kind words about my lame strip and blog.
Teresa,, in addition to the ‘regulars’, there’s us ‘silent admirers’ who follow FA and your blog daily, but don’t feel worthy of posting too often. We are legion and we love your unconventional perspective.
Great idea posting the comic on your site, Teresa; and it was a great one.
The comics have been coming and going all morning. Truly weird.
Guess I’ll go back and give Dick Tracy another shot (no pun intended).
BTW, does anybody but me line up their comics in alphabetical order? I feel like I have to do that, and when I add a comic I have to move it into the right spot. And honest, I have never retained a single a_nus in my whole life. Alphabetical order just seems “right” somehow. You should try it. Once I learned the alphabet, it was easy.
Reminds me, back on my forty-third job, as an explosive underwear tester…
The plot line for the 1942 “Cat People”:
“When naval construction designer Oliver Reed (Kent Smith) sees Serbian born beauty Irena Dubrovna (Simone Simon) at a zoo, he flirts with her, and soon they fall in love and marry. Complications arise because Irena believes she is the victim of an ancient Serbian curse that causes her to turn into a panther if a man tries to make love to her…”
(Whoa doggies! I’ll bet it’s no fun making love to a woman and having her turn into a panther!)
Another one in the public domain - can be downloaded here (legally) - need a BitTorrent client, such as Vuze:
And actually, Teresa, as a previous smoker, I always found one ashtray per bathroom to be sufficient. At times it might need to be slightly moved, but I was able to deal with the inconvenience.
I’ve never seen the original, but was a little weirded out by the remake with Natasia Kinski, Malcolm McDowell and John Heard. The Giorgio Moroder soundtrack was awesome with
David Bowie humming along to the electronic-infused bongo rhythms… whatever the hell that means. I just know it was bleeep sexy, baby!

Thankew Judy. I tried that, but it didn’t work. Also, I can’t find a question mark to click.

He sure does!

Time to duck out of here and go see “Room 43”, looking for the black swan, Odile. It’s a movie best understood by adults,

I just order my comics in the order I want to read them. FA and the Fusco Brothers are the last two on the list.
