Ok, watch this: Dogzilla! Wanna go out? Yarf! First he checks the fence, all the way around the yard. If no one's at the fence, he checks the whole yard for squirrels. After making sure that all squirrels are chased out, he finds the red ball. And brings it here. Now, he will chase that ball anywhere you throw it, every time you throw it, and bring it back. And, he will not quit until either you have quit or he passes out. He's a good doggy. What? He's completely, wildly OCD! Yarf!

My mother was totally blonde; she once took our dog to a church that was having a bake sale and she locked it inside to protect the property. She watched through a window as the dog ‘patrolled’ the perimeter before she left. My mother bragged about how good a watch dog the animal was not realizing the dog was looking for a place to exit the building and leave too.

This cartoon is on account of Craig, a neighbor I see at the dog park. His Border Collie is wonderful at herding. That’s all he wants to do, and he works very hard at it. Craig pointed out, though, that if you put the same behavioral traits in a person, they’d be so wildly OCD that they’d be incapable of living unassisted. I thought that was pretty darn funny.

I am NOT OCD… I’m CDO – Compulsive Disorder of Obsessiveness. (See, it has to be in alphabetical order… ;) )
