Eddie: Guided by the credo of,"if at fahst ya don't succeed, try, try again," I nobly pushed on with the lobstah trickle-up theory...maybe you should switch to,"Those who don't learn from the past are condemned to repeat it," as a credo. Eddie: Hmm...Naw...that'd conflict with the univahsal guy's credo of nevah admittin' a mistake. Flo: Of cahse...how silly of me...

I was figuring the ‘theory’ had something to do with keeping the boat out of water. Guess I was right…

The theory is sound! Only our implementation can be faulty!

Part 2 of that theory is: We don’t ask directions because we don’t get lost.

It’s not the wrong way, it’s the long way…

Noticing that you screwed up is not the same as admitting to it. Just wait until no one’s looking, cover the mistake with paint, and pretend that what you’re doing now is what you had been doing all along.

What about the part where real men don’t need instructions.
Observer fo Irony about 10 years ago
I like puzzles that is why I read the instructions.

Been a tech service person forever. I will never admit to having read a manual or called a help desk…. (notice I said “admit”)

you are lost only if you care where you are going or where you are at the time.

Even when I am not lost (well, when I am not totally lost), my wife always thinks I am. And then she is always surprised when I find my way, because SHE didn’t think it was the way.

Just like Texas A & M never loses a football game, time just runs out before they can score more than the other team.

More like loss of memory…..

Whether the theory is trickle up or trickle down …. either way, you get trickled on…. and we all get wet.

So is the new lower-case font a permanent change? I thought it was just a fluke when it showed up on Monday.

This is why my Man Card was taken away: I…read the instructions!

Very few folks know how to catch the rare Mountain Lobster.

Another philosophy- You must be insane to try again if what you try to do the first time doesn’t work. Quitters really like that one.
tcolkett about 10 years ago
The operative word in your comment is “IF”. Always with the “ifs”, and never with what actually happened; which is, TOTAL FAILURE! Learn from the past or just go away.

I always read instructions – then complain that it would have been clearer if they had let me write them.
dzw3030 about 10 years ago
I always keep the manuals and read them. I didn’t admit that so had a reputation of being smarter than I am. Keep smiling and folks will wonder what you’re doing and/or what you got away with. :-)
Argy.Bargy2 about 10 years ago
You’ve totally missed the point. He’s not going to succeed because the theory is junk, and it has nothing to do with politics.
pbarnrob about 10 years ago
1. First lesson of history: We seem to learn nothing from history!2. If at first you don’t succeed, skydiving may not be your sport.3. There is a thriving cottage industry in aftermarket instructions, for all those written in !@#$% and badly translated. Try your hand, what could you lose?

How about Albert Einstein’s credo in that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?

You know what they say about ASSume.

Strips like this one are the reason I hope Wiley Miller retires soon. Just another piece of male-bashing dreck.
