Not to mention store member cards to let them track your purchases. I also keep a spare car and house key in my wallet.

Not a smart idea to carry your social security card in your wallet all the time!

Per an article I read in my local paper a year or so back, per the Social Security Administration, the only entities allowed to know your ssn are you, the Social Security Administration, your employer and your bank. It was never meant to be used as a form of id since there is no address on the card. When someone wants a form of id they want to see an address. It’s best to leave your ss card at home.

I do remember when it was illegal to use the SSN as a form of ID. I also remember when we were encouraged to etch the SSN into valuable equipment (TV’s, VCR’s – no such thing as DVD at the time – musical instruments) in order to be able to identify them if stolen.

Never carry cash in my wallet; that is what a money clip is for. As for other contents, very little else except for a picture of my wife, kids, and grandkids. Oh, and my driver’s license and American Express. Never leave home without it…

Try Lowe’s — They made usable copies for me for about $75.
