I did cross country only in seventh grade; no sports for the rest of my formal education.

The dweeb triumvirate.The only thing missing is the chess club.

finally Stephan reveals an endearing trait…..

Hey, I was not “a broomstick with glasses,” and although I did speech and debate and no varsity sports, because of a profound lack of talent and muscle, I did wander through some intramural sports…. Cartoon-Boy is a stud compared to what I was in high school and college.

Why is cross country dweeb? Those guys are tough. And I wrestled.

Don’t forget Rocketry Club — that worked.

I was on the bowling team. Not a lot of action there either.

And Rat what did you do ? And look like ?………If you want to talk the talk, then walk the walk !

Profoundly shy guys tend to join math club, forensics, Latin club, chess club, etc. “Fighting off the girls” is a bridge too far.

I was a runner, and still am…to the john!

you need to beat Rat with a broomstick.

Can’t wait to hear what Rat did in high school.

I spent half of a warm summer day backpacking to a high elevation lake – with many stops in the shade for water and rest – only to turn around and find an entire high school cross country team running up the trail for their after school exercise. Boy, did I feel like an old lady!

Incidentally, I don’t think Stephan would have been in Latin Club. Latin wasn’t being taught in high school anymore by the time he would have hit high school. I’m older than he is, and my high school only offered French and Spanish (I took both.) Instead of Spanish or French Club, we just had one International Club that served both.

For me it was Band, including Summer Band, and the Ham Radio Club. This was in the mid to late 60s.

He sure doesn’t look like a broomstick today!

Mine were Glee Club and getting out of school early so I could go to my job – last hour of the day [also got ‘graded’ on that too – not an official grade – never showed up on my report card but I worked there 4 years [into college].

We were a small enough district that everyone had gone to school with each other – all their lives. Not much new pickings!! ;)

So guys, in Pasadena, it’s the rocket scientists who are sexy. Ever hear of Feynmann and the bohemian orgies he and his fellow physicists used to have up the hill on a ranch belonging to their aritist buddy?

I have never joined any sports teams.

Cross country is cool darn it.

“A broomstick with glasses” sounds like a ship between Harry Potter and his broom.

Hey, Cross Country is the toughest sport in High School.

After all, their sport is the punishment of all other sports.

I ran cross country in Alaska, had to run away from a moose once. Saw lots of bald eagles which was nice.

I did cross country once in my entire life, and it was on skiis.
