I review applications for a critical care unit performance recognition program and you can just about guess the age of the authors by the way they write and the words they use. I just love the ones that use illicit instead of elicit and assure instead of ensure.
Spell check can be helpful, but it’s important to recognize its limits. Just because what you typed is technically a word, that doesn’t automatically mean it was the word you wanted.
