My uncles neighbor left her humongous ham on the porch because she didn’t have room in the fridge and it was a cold Christmas. My uncle’s fat, blind dog wandered over and was thankful to Santa. When Peggy came out for the ham she saw Snoop Dog laying on the porch licking the main course. She cut off the gnawed bits, rinsed it and served to her 15-20 family members. I had brought dinner to my uncle and after we had eaten Peg came to invite us for dessert. She told us what had happened and swore us to secrecy. :DI still think about snitching her out 15 years after the fact.:) Merry
It isn’t exactly a conscience, but I remember our fox terrier mix stopping his act of eating something he wasn’t supposed to eat, as if thinking, “Am I doing something wrong?” as one of his owners caught him doing just that.
When we were stationed in Germany we had my husband’s flight platoon (all young single men) over for Christmas dinner. In German houses you can close off all the rooms and just heat the one your in. Anyway after dinner and everyone had gone home my husband and I were too drunk and sleepy to clean up. We closed the front room and dining room door and went to bed. Unbeknownst to us our cocker spaniel Buford was locked in with the leftovers! The next morning we came in to find most of the leftovers eaten and one very satisfied dog sleeping on the floor. We’re lucky he didn’t get pancreatitis but he did have “dying rear” for about a week!! We never made that mistake again! Merry Christmas everybody!!

This happened at my house one year. But it was after dinner and our dog managed to get it under my fathers chair.

Yes, but a main message of Dicken’s tale is that those of good will continued to bestow love and good wishes upon Scrooge, despite his humbug attitude

Koko should talk to Sophie at “Dog Eat Doug”, she has no conscience about eating food left out.
