And he will ask for a “take out” box in the future. There is a local restaurant where the concept of leftovers is wholly unacknowledged: they bring you either a clear plastic bag or a nearly perfectly square piece of aluminum foil. I’m half convinced the waiters do this so they can have get a square meal out of the leavings.

Why do you think she has to be a “PETA lunatic”? *There are several foods that can be toxic to dogs and cats and many that they do not digest well. Onions can cause anemia. So can garlic in large doses. Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure. Xylitol (found in “sugar free” candies) can cause low blood sugar, seizures and liver failure. Chocolate can cause gi upset, tremors, tachyarrhythmias and seizures. Animals generally become lactose-intolerant when they are adults, and milk can cause diarrhea and gi upset. High fat foods can cause pancreatitis.*Not everybody knows this. The waitress just seemed young and naive. She may not have known the term “doggie bag”, but she didn’t seem rude.*Please note that I said these foods “can” cause these symptoms. Toxins are dose-dependent. Please keep in mind that even if you know an animal that ate a small amount in the past and was fine, it doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t be aware they really can be dangerous.*And knowing is half the battle! :-)

I once asked for an Aunt Sallie Mae bag.“Don’t you mean doggie bag?”“I ain’t feeding this to a dog. My Aunt Sallie Mae would like it too much.”I brought her with me the next night.

I suppose if Arlo asked for a kitty bag the server would still had gone catty on him.

@ Observer fo Irony:“I thought PETA was a no-kill group.”Technically, they are. They want to eliminate animals by sterilizing them and allowing them all to die a natural death… with no new generations. It is not only domestic animals they want to eliminate either. They want to eliminate all carnivores and then “control” the over-population of herbivores through birth control.

(Replaced by sheep. Tells you how much the clan chiefs and the English valued you. Or maybe we left voluntarily, yeah, that sounds better, not as people considered subhuman slaves worth less than a wool source.)

If it is not fit for a dog to eat then maybe you should not eat it either.
