Canadians are like that. Go to Los Angeles or Florida in the winter and walk around in Tee shirts and shorts while everyone else is wearing their winter coats.
I’m originally from Chicagoland and live on the East Coast. One year I was in Phoenix over Thanksgiving; I was wearing a short-sleeved shirt and the locals were bundled up in sweaters.
I live in NH. For a while my sister and her husband lived in Ft. Worth. When I was 15 I flew to visit them. It was February vacation. One afternoon she and I were walking around downtown Dallas and got a lot of interesting looks from the locals; while they were all walking around huddled in big coats, she and I were in light jackets and perfectly comfortable.
Had a friend when I was living in Indianapolis. He was born in Mexico but grew up in southern California. I saw him many times outside with temps in the 30s and wind chill in the 20s and he would be in a short sleeve shirt. His wife said she quit buying him coats because he never wore them. The man was insane (or had no temperature sensing cells in his skin).
Years go I had a boss who took his two grown sons on a motorcycle ride up to Glacier Park..Since he was used to sunny CA weather I asked him why he picked this time of year to do that..he said.“No problem you just dress for it in Goretex.” When he got back I asked him how his trip with his sons went..He said..“That was the stupidest thing I did in my life..We froze our tookas off!”
Years ago when in college in Colorado, a 50-degree day was rather chilly to most of us dorm residents except for one dorm mate from Fairbanks, Alaska who thought nothing about being in shorts and a t-shirt.

I have yet to figure out how to use the workds “winter” and “Los Angeles” in the same sentence (without the words “absolutely not” in it).
(I’m from The Netherlands, but I’ve spent a February in Oceanside, Which was not cold at all. Yosemite Valley in February, however…

Yankees and Northerners are not necessarily the same thing. I’m a Northerner and I married a Connecticut Yankee.

A year ago I was installing satellite dishes in Vermont in minus double-digits. My wife and I escaped to SC and my arthritis is MUCH happier!
