Funny how I yawned while reading this.

Nice touch, Goat’s horn becoming his mug-rack! Rat is rather hyper of late; what’s he been ingesting?

I would have thought anything concerning fermented plants would be of great interest to Rat.

A person yawns to equalize the air pressure inside their head with the outside air pressure. When they do so, they draw in a quantity of air, thereby decreasing the air pressure in the immediate vicinity. This in turn causes those nearby to yawn to compensate for the decrease air pressure and so on. That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it . . .

I would be more interested in a cure for the common cold if we’re gonna be frivolous, Rat.

You guys are missing the point of Rat’s comment. What he’s really saying is that everything Goat says is yawn-inducing. In other words, Goat is a bore who needs to shut up now.

Yawning equalizes pressure. So when one person yawns, it throws off the balance and the other person has to yawn also, to even things out.

Interestingly, “spontaneous” yawning (not contagious type) is first observed in the womb. Fetuses get bored?

I read the first panel and (this happens a lot) my eyes immediately jumped to the last panel to see if rat would be chastising Pastis for another bad pun…

What a crock. People could make gas from twigs and weeds in their backyard with a distiller if they wanted to, without fermentation. Youtube “how to make gas”.

sorry, i’m not a critic, but rat’s line in the fourth panel just steps on the punch line.

Here’s another tough question. Why is yawning contagious even when you’re antisocial?
