To Donald Donald about your yesterday’s comment on ads. I have AdBlockPlus (on the Chrome browser) and never have a problem with pesky ads obscuring part of the comics page. Back a few years ago I could find a comics page on Yahoo, but I couldn’t find it when I looked tonight. They’re improving the site beyond recognition.
My eldest grandson, the math whiz, the guy who can make negative numbers and integers dance, says fractions are hard. I agree. That’s likely why I prefer using decimals.
In the words of Tom Lehrer who sang, Hoo-ray for New Math. New Math. It won’t do you a bit of good to review math. It’s so simple. So very simple. That only a child can do it!
@r2varney“But decimals are also fractions. 1/10; 1/100; 1/1000 and by convention we ignore the bottom part and use “zeros” instead. Makes it ever so much easier..”.They sell tapes in decimal feet. feet, tenths of feet, hundredths of feet..Not that you would want to you, but I bet you could get tapes in meters, half meters, quarter meters, eighth meters, et cetera.(Or even better in thirteenths of meters, probably have to pay extra, though it would be worth it)
Having Dyscalculia, math gave me fits from 3rd grade onwards. I transpose numbers all the time and can barely add/subtract simple equations. Forget anything more complex… Yet the written word is my friend, and just flows from me!

Wow. This is a very timely political reference. For those who haven’t heard, google “Steve Cohen tweet”.

As President Bush astutely observed, “Half the people in this country are below average intelligence.”

Math should probably be a qualification to exist.
